Anxiety is a normal reaction that prepares us to deal with challenges or situations that our brains judge to be dangerous or threatening. It is important to remember that a degree of anxiety is normal and also appropriate in stressful situations. Appropriate levels of anxiety help us to make sensible decisions about how to keep safe. However, when anxiety gets out of proportion and is no longer useful, then extra support may be needed.
