Classes have been visiting The Sunshine Room at the start of term. As well as listening to a brief talk about nurture, pupils have enjoyed using the great resources in the room.

We absolutely loved our visit to the Nurture room. We particularly enjoyed the different areas you have, like the tent, the cars, the kitchen and the doll’s house. We like being able to come along and have a snack together (George M). Talking about our feelings is nice because we get to know what we are feeling and it helps other people to know when to cheer you up (Hannah). I like being able to dress up because it makes me feel happy (Poppy). I also like reading books because it is nice and quiet (Poppy).
I really liked the feelings mat. I think it’s important for children to talk about how they feel so they understand why they are feeling a particular way and develop ways to cope when feeling, for example, angry or sad (Miss Kennedy). I thought the room looks bright and inviting (Mrs Roberts).

Primary 4/5 loved their visit to the Nurture Room and cannot wait to visit again. They enjoyed all the activities and their snack. Here are just a few of their comments.

On Thursday, Primary 3 got a chance to visit the Nurture room to work with Mr Olyott. We split into two groups and got to spend half an hour in the room. We had great fun and can’t wait until our next visit!
Our visit to the Nurture room was good fun because I got to talk about my feelings.
When we went in we got to sit on the feelings carpet, which had pictures of faces showing happy, sick, sleepy, shy, angry and scared. Mr Olyott talked to us about our feelings while we were sitting in the relaxing area.
We got to eat biscuits and drink juice.
We got to dress up and play with the sand.
I got to wear the big blue glasses.
My favourite part was playing with Lego.

My favourite part was dressing up and playing Police with Bonnie. I got to arrest her!

My favourite part was when I brought my monkey with me and I found another monkey which was the same.

I enjoyed the having the snake wrapped around me.
We went to the nurture room for a visit. There was dressing up, you could be a ballerina, a pirate, a wizard, a princess, a fireman or a cowboy. There were loads of hats to choose from. We played with the doll’s house and the Dragon’s castle. There was a tent to hide in, a house corner and a police station. The sand was great fun and we could play cars in the garage. There is a wee bit where you can read books. They have lovely pictures on the walls. Whilst we were there we had a snack, we got a cookie and some juice. We had a fab time at the nurture room, everyone had a favourite bit, thank you for having us to visit.
P2 came to visit the Nurture Room. We had a great time finding out more about it! It was fun because there were so many different things to do than in our own classroom. Some of our favourite things were chatting on the comfy seats, getting to sit around the table and having something to eat, and playing with all the different toys.
Amy really enjoyed dressing up. Kenzie liked playing with the cars. Ben and Keyon liked relaxing in the tent! Aimee like sitting around the feelings rug and talking about how we feel.
We can’t wait to come back to visit again!
