P3/2 Tesco Visit

P3/2 had a super morning learning more about healthy eating and where our food comes from at Tesco. We started with a shopping challenge in the fruit and veg department…

The orange team did well to find so many orange fruit and vegetables!

Can you remember how many different types of apples there are in the world?

We learned about fish and shellfish. The fish we eat comes from all over the world and is delivered frozen to Tesco.

We were lucky enough to have a taste of different types of cheese. We all tried to taste something new that we’d never tasted before.

We even got to go behind the scenes to see where the lorries bring the fresh food deliveries!

Next, it was time to go to the bakery. We saw how they make bread and rolls in store. Can you remember how many loaves of bread they make in one week?

We watched how quickly the baker makes pancakes. We even got to try one!

Finally, we got to taste some delicious fruit and go home with a goody bag. P3/2 had a fantastic morning with Tesco! Thank you!

P3/2 Raft Competition

P3/2 joined in the Science Week competition to build a raft that can hold as many pennies as possible before sinking! All of the groups tried their best to make a strong, waterproof raft from card and sellotape…

Then we tested each raft, counting how many pennies it could hold before sinking!

Congratulations to P3/2’s class winners, Brooklyn and Leona, who managed to build a raft that held 154p!

Happy Easter from the Arts and Crafts Club

Over the last few weeks, we have been making lots of Easter craft at the arts and crafts club!

We reused old plastic bottles to make these super Easter baskets! We painted and decorated the baskets and a polystyrene egg, filled our basket with tissue paper and added a pipe cleaner handle.

The Easter bunny paid us a visit one afternoon as well…

Happy Easter from the arts and crafts club!

P3/2 Rocket Reward: Games Afternoon

P3/2 have taken their first reward after collecting 5 stickers! We chose our own reward, so this week P3/2 enjoyed a whole afternoon of playing games!

We played some fun party games and races in teams, including pass the balloon and the chocolate game!

The teams had to pass the balloon down the line the fastest without using their hands. It’s much harder than it sounds!

If you roll a 6 you can eat the chocolate, but not before putting on a hat, scarf, gloves and then using a knife and fork to cut a piece off! If somebody else rolls a 6, it’s time to undress and start again!

We got in a tangle playing Twister!

P3/2 had a wonderful afternoon and are now trying their hardest to collect 10 stickers for their next reward. Good luck P3/2!

P3/2 Assembly ‘Staying Healthy’

P3/2 put on a fantastic performance for their assembly on Staying Healthy on Friday 14th March.

We all felt a little nervous as we got into our positions but everyone did a great job and remembered all of their lines!

We hope everyone remembers the important message we were sharing. We should try to eat at least FIVE portions of fruit and vegetables every day! We also need plenty of exercise to keep our bodies healthy.

Well done to P3/2 for a super performance!

Reading in P7

Primary 7 are reading a book about sectarianism rivalry and asylum seekers, it is called Divided City. It is also about Celtic and rangers, religious hate, fights over football and a boy called Graham who is taking part in the orange walk and Joe is his friend and disagrees with him because he is a Celtic fan. Graham and Joe are   helping a girl because there is a boy called kyoul and he is an asylum seeker he was walking down a street and a gang stabbed him and the ran away. He was left bleeding and his wound was big,Graham phoned an ambulance and they came and took him to a doctor and he had surgery in the side of his body .  We are enjoying this book and we look forward to finding out how it ends.
