Head Teacher’s Report:
Mrs Gunn Kindly explained the key points within the Head teachers Report. The full report will be sent out to all parents tomorrow 06/02/2024

There was a question about funding of the P6-7 trip – Mrs Gunn said that fundraising is essential and there will be an update for parents soon on how much they will have to pay toward the trip. As much as possible will go back to parents if we raise more money for it.

Treasurer’s Report: Current Account balance £1489.14 Tom explained that all payments regarding the school have been sorted and money sent – our latest payments were for Sumdog, puddle suits and Christmas gifts for the nursery children.

Gordon Matheson (Horshader) Presentation: Gordon was telling the PC about the visit he paid to the school and some of the things the children had suggested, he spoke about the children wanting a playpark in shawbost which is something that could be done but awaiting on planning and location before this is to progress.
He also spoke about horshader doing a breakfast club and an afterschool club that would allow parents to work a full day at work and not have to worry about collecting until a later time 3pm – 5.30pm was suggested for the after-school club but this is still in the planning stage.

Fundraising Group: Mrs Gunn spoke briefly about the need for fundraising throughout the year to support as much as possible for the children and the more fundraising we do hopefully the less the parents have to pay for the p6/7 school trip. Rebecca mentioned that a WhatsApp group has been created for the fund-raising group and we will start making plans soon.

Mrs Gunn said that around £2000 was raised by the parent council Christmas hamper raffle in December.

School Photos: The question was raised by Mrs Gunn about when the school photos should take place either before June or After. It was suggested we have them done before June so the P7’s are able to have their final Photo done.

School Notices: It was asked whether the school could communicate by one method instead of a few different ways I.E email, group call and seesaw but Mrs Gunn informed us that all of these methods are essential for multiple reasons so we cannot remove any of these methods. The school are allowed a maximum number of group call texts each year but we are well below our maximum.

AOCB: There was an update on the film G trip and Mrs Gunn explained that 3 tickets have been allocated for the school and the parents will be asked – this will start with P7 and work backwards, if a child cannot attend then the next child’s parents will be asked. It is expected to cost about £1000 from the school fund for the trip and the school have managed to raise £500 toward this.

Tom told Mrs Gunn that he would be willing to go to the Film G if the school is still looking for adults that have First Aid qualifications.
