COURSE
In Music Technology we will explore:-
Music Technology Skills – exploring sound design, microphone techniques and the use of editing software
Music Technology in Context – using our skills to create a folio of the pupils’ own choice. Projects could include: creating sounds for a video game, creating a podcast, recording and editing a rock band, designing sound effects for an audiobook/play, electronic music composition.
Understanding 20th and 21st Century Music – exploring a range of musical styles and the technological developments through the decades
TYPICAL LESSON
What can I expect:-
Individual and group practical work
Working in recording studio environments
Using a wide range of ICT and software, including MixCraft
Interactive listening lessons exploring rock, pop, blues, jazz, electronic dance music, and more.
Specialist use of professional-level equipment, microphones and software
Opportunities to develop skills in real-life scenarios, including sound engineering for school productions and events.
HOW WILL IT BE ASSESSED?
In addition to formal assessments, pupils peer and self-assess throughout the course
Music Technology Skills
Throughout S3 and S4 we will assess specific skills through short tasks in which a criteria has to be met. Pupils will be asked to carry out a specific task and will also have to justify the choices they have made in the scenario.
Music Technology in Context
Pupils will have the opportunity to choose their own folio projects to complete.
Understanding 20th and 21st Century Music
A number of small research tasks are completed on a range of musical styles and genres, including any relevant technology used.
