COURSE

This is a practical course and aims to provide the development of techniques and skills required for textile production, retail and the fashion industry. The aims of the course are to enable learners to develop:

  • Practical skills and textile construction techniques to plan and make straightforward fashion/textile items.
  • Safe use of tools and equipment
  • Knowledge of textile properties and characteristics
  • Knowledge of a range of factors that influence fashion/textile choices
  • Basic investigation and evaluation skills 

TYPICAL LESSON

The majority of lessons will be of a practical nature, building organisational techniques and sewing skills. You will have to plan, make and review straightforward fashion/textile items. You will learn about textile characteristics and properties, factors that affect fashion choices.

HOW WILL IT BE ASSESSED?

The course has four mandatory Units including the Added Value Unit.

Fashion and Textile Choices
Added Value Unit – Making a Fashion/ Textile Item

Learners must pass all of the required Units, including the Value Added Unit.
