Last night was the showcase concert for the West of Scotland Schools Symphony Orchestra and Concert Band.  This was a fantastic concert displaying a high calibre of performance from school pupils.  Congratulations to all the Williamwood pupils who were involved.

Higher Dance Showcase

The Higher Dance showcase will be held on Thursday 5th June at 7pm in the Dance and Drama studios. The Higher dancers will present their examination dances in Contemporary and Jazz, as well as presenting their own pieces of choreography which they devised for their exam. This will be an exciting show and a great opportunity to see the dance talent Williamwood has to offer and to learn a bit about the course. Tickets are priced at £3 and are now on sale in the performing arts base.

Young Musician of the Year

Congratulations to Richard Scholfield (S6) on saxophone and Campbell Lang (S2) on bassoon who won the senior and junior categories of this year’s Young Musician contest. Well done also to Lewis Graham (S4) on clarinet and Christopher Vettraino (S2) on oboe who were runners up.

 The standard of performances was extremely high once again and all finalists should be very proud of their playing. A fabulous night was had by all and the judges were extremely complimentary of the standard.

Glasgow Music Festival Success

This year has been the most successful year yet with every ensemble and group entered winning their class.  These include:  Senior Vocal Ensemble directed by Mrs Dippie, String Orchestra directed by Mr Doherty, Senior Concert Band directed by Mrs Brodie and conducted by Richard Scholfield S6, Williamwood Trio and the Wind Octet both directed by Mrs Roberts.  Congratulations to everyone involved both pupils and staff.

Young Musician of the Year

This year’s Young Musician contest will take place on Thursday 20th March at 7pm in the Music Department. Tickets cost £4/£2 and can be purchased in the Performing Arts base. The standard of performances this year is exceptionally high so purchase your tickets quickly to avoid disappointment. Finalists are:
