Williamwood Music Festival

Music Festival 2019

The Williamwood High School Music Festival 2019 took place on 4th November in the school’s Conference Suite. Pupils performed to our esteemed judges; Gayle Brogan and John Cavanagh, receiving compliments and helpful instruction.

Mila’s skilful and sensitive rendition of Lady Gaga’s I’ll Always Remember Us This Way was judged to be the winning performance of the Junior Category, while Rebecca, Katie and Imogen impressed with their delicate rendition of Mary Black’s song; Katie, securing second position in the junior category.

The senior category was clearly owned by Frea, who performed original songs, that she had written herself; Money Lover and Pieces which proved to be thoughtful and perceptive songs, while her performances, which saw her accompanying herself on the ukulele, were recognised as being mature and expressive.

Luka’s exciting guitar solos of Ozzy Osborne’s Killer of Giants and Luka’s own yet-to-be-named composition won him second position in the senior category. Adjudicators stated their enthusiasm for his sophisticated, stylish technique and clear understanding of the idiom.

The Rising Star was named as Leo, who despite performing on a drumkit that seemed intent on separating itself from him, won the fight, much to the audiences and adjudicators delight. His performance of Nirvana’s Bloom demonstrated focus and enthusiasm and good humour.

Thanks to all who attended, and who contributed to such a great night. An extra special thanks to Gayle and John, who encouraged all pupils who participated.
