Williamwood Music Festival 2019

Congratulations to the successful candidates who auditioned for this year’s Williamwood Music Festival. We have an exciting list of Williamwood High School musicians who will be performing at the event, which is on Monday November 4 at 7pm in the Conference Suite. We are extremely pleased to announce that the Festival is being adjudicated by established composers and musicians; John Cavanagh and Gayle Brogan.

Tickets are free, although donations will be gratefully received at the door. Tickets are available now from the Performing Arts department.

ABRSM & Trinity Examination Results

Congratulations to the following pupils on their success in the summer diet of Associated Board and Trinity College examinations.

S2 pupil:  Conor O’Shea passed Grade 4 clarinet

S4 pupil:  Kirsten Ross Grade 6 flute with distinction

 

Previous S6 pupil:  Eilidh McCroskie passed Grade 8 violin

S3 pupils:  Angus Birnie passed Grade 7 Rock & Pop guitar, Sarah Hill Grade 4 clarinet with merit, Finley Lowe Grade 6 Rock & Pop drum kit with distinction

Glasgow Music Festival 2019

This year again we have had numerous students competing in the Glasgow Music Festival.  All the students should be incredibly proud of their performances.

Prize winners were:

Liana Storey winner of Debussy and Ravel piano solos class

Liana also won the piano Premier class

Anna Ghiro S4 third in the Woodwind and Brass Concerto class

Anna Ghiro S4 second place in the Woodwind and Brass Sonata class

Beatrice Cheng S2 winner of the Non Traditional Clarsach/Pedal harp Solos A class

Lauren Selbie S1 third place in the Woodwind Solos B class

Williamwood Bassoon Ensemble second place in the Chamber Music B class

 

 

 

 

NYO GB Success

 

Congratulations to S4 pupil Anna Ghiro who has got a place in the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain for 2019 on bassoon.  We are also delighted to hear that past pupil Campbell Lang is going to be the principal bassoon.

 

 

Pupil achievement

S5 pupil Liana Storey is performing Piano Concerto No 1 by Beethoven with the Glasgow Chamber Orchestra on Saturday 16th March in Sherbrooke Mosspark Church at 7.30pm.  Tickets can be purchased on the door.
