Theory tuition

In preparation for the ABRSM theory examinations on 7th November, music staff will be running a series of theory lessons on Wednesday lunchtimes. Ā These sessions will commence on 26th September. Ā Pupils are required to bring their ABRSM theory books to the class. Ā All grades will be addressed with the focus being on Grade 5. Ā Further information can be obtained from Ms Williams.

Aural classes will be offered in line with the ABRSM practical examinations. Ā Details to follow. Ā Information can be obtained from Mrs Dippie.

Instrumental Lessons

Initial timetables will be displayed on the website from Monday. Ā Please note that Ms Rose (percussion) will not be in school on Monday 2oth August and that Mr Finnigan (guitar) will not be in on Friday 31st August and that his lessons will take place on Monday 3rd September. Ā Pupils should regularly check the instrumental noticeboard and website for updates.

Instrumental Lessons

Instrumental lessons will begin the week beginning 20th August. Timetables will be available on the website from Monday 20th and pupils are asked to note the time of their lesson for the first week using either the website or the instrumental lesson board in the department. Printed timetables will be issued during the first lesson.

Pupils who are attending Williamwood on a placement request and have previously received instrumental lessons and would like to continue should see Ms Williams or Mrs Selbie as soon as possible in the Performing Arts base.

S1 auditions for guitar and drum lessons will take place in the first few weeks of term. Information will be given at assemblies.

Autumn Jazz Festival

Tickets will be on sale shortly for our first ever Autumn Jazz Festival which takes place on Thursday 4th October and will feature the Williamwood Big Band, the school choir, a jazz combo and various soloists. Tickets will be priced at Ā£4 and Ā£2. We look forward to an informal evening of music in a relaxing, jazz club setting.

Grease is the word!

Tickets are nowĀ available for this year’s school show.Ā  Come along and be entertained by pupils from S1 – S6 as they bring to you ‘Grease the Musical’.Ā  Tickets are priced at Ā£6/Ā£4 and can be purchased from the Performing Arts base and from the Street at lunchtime. The show is on Wednesday 20th June through to Friday 22nd June.

June Highlights

Please note that our website has been updated for the month of June and thatĀ the Composer of the Month is Saint-Saens and our contributor to the Desert Island Discs feature is Mr Iain Scott who is retiring at the end of this academic year.
