Spring Concert

Once again The Street was full to capacity for this year’s Spring Concert.  Pupils performed to a very high standard and feedback from parents and friends was extremely positive.  Thank you to all involved and to Mary’s Meals for providing refreshments.

Photographs can be found here.

This Month

Our contributor to Desert Island Discs this month is Mr Sudding (Science) who has allowed us to have an insight into his life beyond the Physics classroom.  A number of staff have come forward with their selection and if you would like to be involved for the month of June, please see Ms Williams.

Miss Allan has chosen this month’s composer.  Have a look at the side panel to see who she has chosen.

This month…

Our composer for the month of December is Zoltan Kodaly and the Desert Island Discs selection is brought to you by Ms Williams.  Pupils in certificate classes are encouraged to listen to the examples of music regardless of the genre.  If anybody is interested in being a guest on Desert Island Discs, please contact Ms Williams.

Amici Cello Trio Workshop

Pupils from Williamwood and the cluster primaries who are learning to play the cello took part in a workshop led by the famous Amici Cello Trio (featuring our own Mrs Dippie!).  This was an amazing experience for the pupils who got to play together at the end of the workshop.  Photographs can be viewed here.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT

Tickets are now on sale for our annual Christmas Concert at Greenbank Parish Church. This year’s concert takes place on Wednesday 12th December at 7pm. Tickets are priced at £4 and £2 for children and can be purchased from any member of the department. We look forward to seeing you there.

Young Singer of the Year

A packed crowd fitted into Music Studios 1 and 2 to listen to the first ever Williamwood’s Young Singer of the Year competition.  All singers delivered great performances making the decision all the more difficult for the judges, Helen McVey and Nick Zekulin, who are both members of staff at the Royal Scottish Conservatoire.  After much deliberation, the results were as follows:

Junior Category                         Senior Category

Winner: Eubha Akilade              Winner: Alex Renfrew

Runner-up: Sophie Aziz             Runner-up: Callum Gairns

Over £150 was raised for Marie Curie’s “Sing Out” campaign.  Well done to all involved in this great event.  We look forward to next year!
