The next installment of £150 is due for this Friday 25th Oct.

Tickets are now on sale for this years Jazz Festival.  This relaxed informal evening takes place on Thursday 10th October and promises to be a great evening of entertainment.  Tickets are available from the music department at the price of £4 Adults and £2 concessions.  To add to the atmosphere a bar will be available on the night.

The deadline for applications for the National Youth Orchestras of Scotland is 20th September.  If you wish to apply either see Mrs Selbie or apply online at www.nyos.co.uk

If you play an instrument and are grade 6 standard or above you can apply to audition for the West of Scotland Schools Symphony Orchestra or Concert Band season 2014.   Every year we have a large number of  pupils that take part in both the orchestra and concert band and they all relish the opportunities that they get to work with professional conductors and perform in some of Scotland’s finest venues. See Mrs Selbie for an application form or apply online at  www.wsso.org.uk.  The deadline for this round of applications is 31st October.

Vocal workshops for all singers taking music as a subject begin on Monday 16th September after school.  At these workshops, lead by Ms Parker, the focus will be on breathing, projection, phrasing as well as general musicianship skills and presentation. The workshops will take place in Music Studio 3  and they begin with S3 pupils on Mon 16th Sept, then S4 on Mon 23rd Sept followed by S5/S6 on Mon 7th October.  These will take place on a rotational basis focusing on particular year groups at a time.  Please see Ms Parker if you have any questions.

Theory classes start back on Wed 11th September in Music Studio 1 at 12.35pm.  All pupils wanting help with their theory are most welcome to come along.

Conducting workshops begin this Friday 23rd August with Mrs Brodie and Ross Gunning after school in Music Studio 2.  Please come along if you would like to know more about how to lead an ensemble – very useful if you are thinking of studying music in the future!

Tickets are now available for the Performing Arts Cabaret which is taking place in the Drama and Dance Studios.  This original work features scenes and music from famous musicals including Les Miserables, Hairspray, Miss Saigon, Shrek and Matilda amongst many more.
