Past Pupil Success

Congratulations to John Roberts on his recent appointment as Principal Oboe in the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London.  John only left Williamwood 4 years ago when he went to study oboe at the Royal College of Music in London.  This is a remarkable achievement for such a young man and he is the youngest ever British oboe player appointed to such a prominent position.

This year John also appeared as guest Principal oboe with the London Symphony Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Concert Orchestra, The Scottish Opera Orchestra and the Royal Northern Sinfonia.

National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain

Congratulations to two of our pupils who have both got into NYOGB this year.  S3 pupil Lucy Gibson will be one of the bassoonists while S6 pupil Luke Maher will be playing French Horn.  They will both be performing with the orchestra at next years Proms in the Royal Albert Hall.  We look forward to seeing them on t.v!
