Giffnock South Church Malawi Evening

On Sunday 26th October three of our senior pupils have been invited to perform at a Malawi event in Giffnock South Parish Church at 7pm. S6 pupils Frances Paton and Ishara Waidyarathna both went to Malawi in June with a group of Williamwood pupils. They are going to perform on cello, piano and voice.  S5 pupil Jessica Gaff has also been asked to sing at the concert.  The evening is going to conclude with the East Renfrewshire Schools Jazz Band performing.

Senior Girls Vocal Ensemble

Congratulations to the Senior Girls Vocal Ensemble who have been selected to perform at the SQA Star Awards Ceremony on Friday 7 November.  The ensemble have been together for three years now and are all S6 pupils. They were auditioned by representatives of the SQA in October and faced competition from various schools and colleges across Scotland. This is a prestigious event and a fantastic achievement for the girls. The ensemble have performed at concerts and shows within Williamwood over the past few years and won the Vocal Ensemble class at the Glasgow Music Festival earlier this year. They are looking forward to performing at the awards ceremony.  Well done!

WSSO Michael Stoakes Memorial Award

The West of Scotland Orchestral Trust has established a memorial award in memory of one of their past students Michael Stoakes.  To receive the award staff decide which pupils have been the most outstanding members of the symphony orchestra  and the concert band.  This year I am delighted that two Williamwood pupils received the award.  Richard Scholfield for the Concert Band and Stuart Vettraino was the joint winner for the Symphony Orchestra.
