Richard Scholfield is a saxophonist based in Glasgow, a former pupil of Williamwood High School, and a graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. In 2018, he was awarded first prize in the Governors’ Recital Prize for Woodwind (RCS), and has appeared as a concerto soloist with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (2018), Kelvin Ensemble (2017) and Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Wind Orchestra (2016). Richard is a former winner of the Williamwood High School Young Musician of the Year competition, and during his time at school he took an active role in conducting both the school’s Big Band and Concert Band – the latter of which he led in a winning performance at the Glasgow Music Festival. Outside of his saxophone-related activities, Richard is the director of the Clarkston Community Choir and organist and choirmaster at Giffnock South Parish Church.
