We encourage every student in S6 to be involved in at least one S6 Service opportunity as there are so many benefits. These include:
- Personal satisfaction
- Help develop life skills
- Build on your CV
- Stand out from others when applying for College / University
- Meet new people
- Work with others
- Give back to the school / community
See the S6 Service Booklet 2018-19 for full details on all opportunities on offer. Any requests must be submitted by Monday 27 August at the very latest.
Pupils must make their own way to and from placements.
Pupils will be issued with a form to record their attendance on their placements. Any attendance issues then please contact your placement or inform Miss Goodenough.
Also check S6 Yammer and notice board for placements in the next few weeks.
Community Placement Forms
You will insert your options in to a spread sheet with your Pastoral Teacher in PSHE before the summer holidays. If you would like to undertake your placement in the community – schools, care homes, dementia units etc. You will be given a 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice. We will do our best to accommodate you.
Isobel Mair Placements
There will be an induction session at Isobel Mair School on Thursday 23 August from 3:30pm to 4:15pm (to be confirmed) for all those S6 students interested in undertaking Community Involvement at the school. Pupils will be introduced to the Senior Management Team, led through some basic policy and procedure and sign up for times and days that suit their studies. There will also be the opportunity to ask questions about the school and the children and young people who attend. It is essential that all who wish to uptake voluntary places within the school attend this session. This will be the only Induction event for the current session. Demand for placement in the school continues to be at an all-time high. Please give your name to Miss Goodenough by Monday 20 August if you would like to attend. You must make your own way there and back for the induction session and for your placements. Please also bring your timetable with you to the induction session.
