Scottish Space School

The 2019 Scottish Space School @ Strathclyde residential summer school will be held at the University of Strathclyde from 9-14 June 2019 and applications are now being invited via the online application system.

Now in its 16th year at the University, the Scottish Space School continues to inspire the next generation of engineers and scientists and is aimed at S5 pupils in Scotland currently studying Maths and Science subjects at Higher level.

How pupils should apply:

  • Applications are now open to all S5 pupils.
  • Applications will only be accepted using the online system so if you do not have internet access at home it can be completed at school.
  • The deadline for applications is Sunday 20 January 2019 at midnight and no late applications will be accepted.
  • All applicants must be in S5 in the current school session and be studying Maths and Science subjects at Higher level.
  • You should include the results of all relevant national examinations you have already achieved, and also provide details of the Higher examinations you intend to sit in 2019.
  • Your personal statement in Part A should clearly state why you are applying for Space School, your expectations if selected, and what contribution you think you can make to the programme. You must also complete the short questionnaire in Part B.
  • You must obtain permission from your teacher before including his/her name and contact details on the application form. Teachers’ supporting statements will be accepted up until Friday 25 January at 5pm, and no late supporting statements from teachers’ will be considered after this date.
  • Once an application has been submitted no changes can be made – so please ensure that you only submit your fully completed application.
  • The selection panel will meet in early March to review the applications received and all applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application by the end of March. Please note, the panel’s decision is final and no feedback will be provided.
