S1 Pupils Crowned VEXIQ Regional Champions!

Congratulations to the following S1 pupils who were crowned VEXIQ Regional Champions at today’s competition in Langside College, Glasgow.

They were tasked with designing and building a robot and using it to compete in a variety of tasks both with and against other schools.

They have now qualified for the UK National Championships in Telford in March 2019.

Severe Allergy Presentation

Well done to Martha McMahon (1a6) and Holly Edgar (6a1) who produced and delivered the following presentation to all S1 pupils today.  They will be presenting this at all Year Group assemblies before Christmas.

Severe Allergy Presentation

The girls raised awareness over severe allergies with tips on how to spot and treat severe allegic reactions.  They also tackle the social stigma that some allergy sufferers can suffer from.

Rice Challenge Success

Well done to the following S1 pupils who all took part in the 90kg Rice Challenge – and won!  They all helped to sell 1kg bags of rice to fellow pupils, parents and staff and raised £280.41.

90kg of rice is the amount a farmer in Malawi has to sell to educate one child for a year.

Mountain Biking Success – Gillen Anderson (1a1)

Well done to Gillen Anderson (1a1) who received the Most Improved Award in his group for cycling at the Glasgow Riderz annual awards.

Gillen started with Glasgow Riderz cycling club last summer and has progressed quickly from Group 1 to Group 5 over the year. He trains every week in mountain biking and CX and loves his cycling.

He hopes to start competing next year.

Football News

Well done to the S1 St Ninian’s United who recorded a 4-2 victory away to Renfrew High School on Thursday 29 November.

Their next match is versus St Andrerw’s (Paisley) on Monday 17 December.

Well done to S1 St Ninian’s Thistle who drew 3-3 with Williamwood on Wednesday 6 December. Their next match is Wednesday 12 December (Eastwood) and Thursday 13 December (Castlehead).

East Renfrewshire Schools’ Gymnastics Success

Congratulations to the following S1 pupils who took part in the East Renfrewshire Schools’ Gymnastics Championships on Tuesday 4 December.

The pupils did exceptionally well and achieved a mixture of Gold and Silver medals – hopefully the first of many!
