Lighthouse Paintings

This month in class, we have been reading and finding out about Katie Morag. We have followed in Katie Morag’s footsteps and created our own family tree. We have also learned a little bit about Scots language. Some words we now know include; lassie, bonnie, wee and beastie.

On the Isle of Struay, where Katie Morag lives, there is a lighthouse. We decided we would like to find out more about lighthouses. Today we painted our own beautiful lighthouse pictures. Take a look at us painting!

Waterproof or not?

This week as part of our Science studies, we have investigated which materials are waterproof and which are not. To find out, we carried out an experiment where we had to pour water onto different materials. Before we done the experiment we made a hypothesis. We have learned that a hypothesis is a sensible guess or prediction about what might happen. Take a look at some photos of us carrying out our experiment.

Presentations

This week in class we have expressed an interest in finding out about different countries around the world, as part of our Social Studies.

We have taken a virtual tour of locations we are interested in by searching on Google Maps. We  used ICT (I-pads, Chromebooks and computers) to research information about places we would like to find out more about.

In groups, we created posters to display all of the interesting facts we found out. We presented our posters to the class. Take a look at some of our presentations…

Taking to the stage…

This week we asked if we could take part in our very own talent show. We created a stage area in our classroom. Then we rehearsed our songs and dances and performed for our classmates. We have developed skills in;

  • Working as part of a team
  • Showing confident body language
  • Self and peer assessing
  • Supporting one another

Hello Family!

Welcome to our blog.

This week lots of exciting things have been happening. First we saw a big yellow crane. Its job is to lift heavy things. It was lifting things onto the nursery and we watched with the rest of the school.

We also had some new classmates join us this week, some eggs. Very special eggs! yesterday three of them hatched and we now have three little chicks.

We’ve also been learning about Space. We learned that Mars, Jupiter and Venus are all planets!
