Chinese new year last 15 days on the 15th they light lanterns and let them off to the sky. There was an abundance of animals, there were 13 animals altogether but the cat unfortunately died or was disqualified. First came the rat, then the ox, the tiger, the rabbit, the dragon, the snake, the horse, the sheep, the monkey, the dog, the rooster and finally the pig. Cranachan

This week to mark the end of our Burns celebrations we made cranachan and you might want to try it . We made it using squirty cream , raspberries , mixer, oats and an oven . We all had the opportunity to try some and it was delicious. It is a Scottish delight.

In Writing we learned how to write instructions.  We all wrote instructions explaining how to make our own favourite dishes.  Yum!

Science (NRG)

P5a have been learning about energy. We are learning about eight different energies.Chemical energy is energy that people can eat and it could be stored🍔. Light  energy can be stored until used then  is transferred  through circuits to turn a light on🌟. Sound  energy can be made by instruments. if something is noisy it is producing sound energy🎶.kenetic energy is when something is moving the more fast it goes the more kinetic energy it has ✈.Electricity is produced from sockets…and we use it every day ⚡. Thermal energy (heat energy) can be sometimes produced by light energy eg fire , candle and light bulbs🔥. Gravitational energy gravity keeps us down so if an apple was to fall gravity would pull it down without gravity we would float🎳.Elastic energy is produced in the elastic which saves up energy and a bed has springs that goes up🏹.

ALEEZA

There is a new girl in p5a called Aleeza . She is really enjoying St Cadoc’s and has made lots of friends 👭

Science Is Fun

Mrs Sullivan came to visit our class and a circuit experiment we had 3 circuit and then we connected it to a battery. Then we connected it to a light bulb and it glowed.

There were cards and someone held one and you would say what it was and what energy it was.

There was a carousel candle and it was spinning because the heat generated reflections that interacted with the metal . So it produced a draft which made wind that intensified.

Welcome to P4Amazing!

Hello and welcome to our post,

This week in R.E we have enjoyed learning about Mary during this special month of May. It is also our First Holy Communion next week and we are so excited!!

In Art this week, we sketched our Chinese Koi Fish and we can’t wait to start colouring them in!

We started our class novel, ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ which we have loved reading together in class. We also used our computer skills to research the history of chocolate where we found out lots about some of our favourite chocolate bars. Yummmmmm! We even discovered that many years ago chocolate didn’t even come in wrappers!

In Science, we have been learning about Electrical Energy and we explored different sources of electrical energy, for example, mains and battery powered energy. We now know how to stay safe and avoid the dangers of electricty.

Thank you for reading our post! 🙂

From all the children in Primary 4A
