The Apprentice Greenkeeper position would suit a candidate looking to start a career in greenkeeping or maybe a career change.  No experience would be required as full on the job training will be provided. Enjoyment of working outdoors and an understanding of golf would be helpful. Applicants should be self-motivated, hardworking, enthusiastic and comfortable working individually and as part of a team. You will be expected to work 40 hours per week, including weekend work from time to time. Overview: The Apprentice will work alongside the Course Manager and other members of the team in ensuring that the Golf Course is maintained to the highest standard with regard to presentation and safety.  As an Apprentice Greenkeeper this is a fantastic opportunity for you to gain hands-on greenkeeping experience whilst working towards your qualification. Supported and guided by the Course Manager and senior staff, training will include: routine maintenance, cutting greens/tees/fairways, maintaining equipment, Health and Safety and more. Further Education: The successful candidate will attend college and work towards gaining SVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Sports Turf Maintenance. This is a great opportunity to obtain a formal qualification in greenkeeping. Qualification College courses would start Year 1 October-March. BAE Systems – Work Experience

I am delighted to announce that BAE Systems Naval Ships WEX programmes are now open for applications. Join BAE Systems Maritime Naval Ships team for a one week work experience placement and earn a Silver Industrial Cadet Award. Our work experience placements will take place Monday to Thursday (9.00 -15.30) for pupils aged 16 -18 at either our Scotstoun and Govan sites. Students will spend time learning about BAE System’s apprentice programmes, the business and spend time in a workshop environment creating a project that they will then be asked to do a short presentation on. On this one week programme, students will develop their skills and experience through live face to face sessions and activities devised and delivered by our apprentices and engineers. From combat systems to environmental engineers, project managers and steelworkers, students will learn with experts in their fields, illustrating the impact they are making on the future of ship design and the wide range of career pathways open to students when they leave school. Students will work on an individual project and spend time with our early careers experts who will help them explore their strengths as well as school leaver opportunities. While students will have an opportunity to experience a range of BAE functions and crafts on all WEX programmes, the Scotstoun programmes will have a larger focus towards electrical, plumbing, pipe welding, sheet metal design and fabrication crafts. This is a reminder that the NHS Allied Healthcare Work Experience begins this Sunday 5th February. We strongly encourage students in years 10/S3/NI11 – 13/S6/NI14 considering healthcare to register ahead of this weekend. A strong record of work experience is crucial to all allied health careers, so we would be very grateful if you could forward this to your students. Deck Officers in the Merchant Navy are vital members of a vessel’s onboard management team. While on duty at sea, you’ll be responsible for making decisions on steering and manoeuvring the ship, controlling navigation and communications. All crew need to work as a team to maintain the ship and its equipment at optimum efficiency. This is a diverse role and every day is different, with your ultimate goal to become Captain of your own vessel. What will I learn? Study towards internationally recognised qualifications – HNC /HND and Professional Diplomas available. You will also receive a Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA) Certificate of Competency upon qualification. You will learn how to lead people in a highly pressurised environment, understanding your role as part of a management team.
