Some of the boys and girls in Primary 1d worked as a team during ‘choosing time’ to make a boat with building blocks. Carmen and Odhran even made a compass so that they could use it when sailing! Well done!
Freya wanted to weigh some objects but we didn’t have any scales in the classroom so she decided to make her own! Mrs Neil was very proud of her creativity and problem solving skills!
P1b have been developing their computer science skills. They used the Chromebooks to join a Google Classroom and then had fun programming BB-8 to help Rey collect some scrap metal. Do we have some future software engineers in our midst?
P1b have been learning about the wildlife in Scotland. We thought it would be a good idea to feed the birds as the weather had been very cold recently. We used recycled plastic bottles and yoghurt pots to make some bird feeders. It was tricky to fill the bottles with the seeds so we used funnels to make it a bit quicker and easier.
Mrs Neil was very impressed with the team work and problem solving skills displayed by Hannah, Freya, and Anna when she challenged them to build a den all by themselves! Great work girls!
P1b went on a virtual adventure today using our new VR headsets. We went to Edinburgh and Beijing and compared the two cities. Then we got to see some lions up close by going on a virtual visit to Africa. We finished off our day by going on a deep sea dive and looking at all the amazing sea creatures that can be found at the Great barrier Reef! We had lots of fun!
P1 have been developing their creative thinking, team work and problem solving skills in our open area this week. Here are some examples of the things we have made.
P1b are learning to be engineers. We used a variety of resources to create little sledges. When we tested them in the classroom they went really fast on the slide we made. They were a lot slower on the snow though! We think it is because the snow had started to melt and was very icy.
Charlie, Daniel and Finlay worked together to build a sturdy wall. I wonder what they were trying to keep out?
