Primary 1e wanted to learn how to build fires safely. We visited Glenwood and worked as a team with Mrs Husbands and the nursery children to create our own small fire. We enjoyed toasting marshmallows and, of course, eating them!

P1c made some lovely pictures using 2D shapes in the outdoor classroom today.
Den Building
Mrs Neil was very impressed with the team work and problem solving skills displayed by Hannah, Freya, and Anna when she challenged them to build a den all by themselves! Great work girls!
Changes to PE timetable
Primary one have practised and enhanced a range of health and wellbeing skills during their Muddy Movers sessions this year. In order to further develop the pupils’ physical competence and improve fundamental motor skills such as running, jumping, throwing and catching, one Muddy Movers session will now be replaced with a dedicated P.E. session.
Pupils will require a gym kit for the P.E. sessions and waterproof clothing/wellies for Muddy Movers. School gym kit consists of dark coloured shorts/jogging trousers and trainers; polo shirts should be worn on gym days to enable the children to change quickly and independently. Some of the P.E. sessions will take place outside in the all-weather pitches so please ensure that your child has a waterproof jacket on that day.
Day | Class | Activity |
Monday | All P1 classes | P.E. Session |
Tuesday | P1b and P1c | Muddy Movers |
Wednesday | P1a, P1d and P1e | Muddy Movers |
Please ensure that all gym bags, shoes and clothes are labelled clearly with your child’s name.
A very busy week!
Primary 1 have been developing their literacy and numeracy skills this week. We began our Jolly Phonics programme and have been practising reading and writing the sounds s, a, t and i. We looked for objects beginning with the sounds in our playground and have used sand, shaving foam and chalk to make the letters. We have also practised counting and  number formation.
Construction
P1 have had lots of fun with our construction resources this week. Team work and problem solving skills are very important when creating and building models and tall structures.
Travel Agents
P1e love their class travel agency. They have been using their literacy, numeracy and social skills to plan and book holidays for their class mates.

Paper Aeroplanes
Some children in P1c wanted to learn how to make paper aeroplanes. Miss McKenna found a video on YouTube to help them. They then tested their flying ability in the open area.
