P3b – Lots of learning!

Science – Earth, Moon and Sun

Primary 3b have been learning about the Earth, the moon and the sun.  They have been observing and recording the earth, the sun and the moon at various times.  They have been exploring and describing their patterns of movement and changes over time.  They have been relating these to the length of a day, a month and a year.

They can describe how the Earth spins around its axis in 24 hours resulting in day and night. They can explain why the moon appears to have different shapes and positions in the sky at different times in a lunar month.

“I like learning about the solar system because I love space.  I find it very interesting that the moon changes shape every few nights in a lunar month.” (Gabriel E)

“I like the videos about the moon because they are really funny.  I also like that I know a lot of facts about the earth, the sun and the moon.” (Jai)

PE – Gymnastics

This week, they have been working on controlling their bodies.  They have been rolling, jumping, balancing and making shapes with their bodies.

Primary 3b have been really enjoying this aspect of PE.

“I like gymnastics because it’s fun.  I like jumping on the springboard and making a body shape on the landing mat.” (Hamish)

“My favourite part of gymnastics is making shapes with my body.  I like it because it is calm and quiet.  I like having fun with all the mats on the ground.” (Laurina)

Literacy – Outdoor Learning

This week, they were using the outdoors as inspiration to solve some riddles.  After that, they came up with their own riddles, using vocabulary from their outdoor environment.  They really loved this activity and had a lot of fun, being creative, coming up with their own.

Well done P3b – Keep up all the hard work!  🙂

“I liked how we got to work as a team to make our own riddles.  We used rhyming words from the outdoors to help us.” (Joe)

“All of the riddles were different and quite challenging.  I liked the one that was about a tree.  We loved making up our own because we could be as creative as we wanted.” (Elsa)

“I liked how we worked together to find the answers to the riddles.  I liked that we all solved one riddle each.  My favourite bit was making our own at the end.” (Niamh)

Keep up the hard work 3b! 🙂

P3d Share Their Projects

Check out P3d’s Blog!

P3d presented their amazing projects on their chosen aspect of the Celts topic.  The children have worked really hard researching and developing their investigative skills and should be extremely proud of themselves.

Eva-Grace said, “I liked learning about the Celts and how they made their houses and clothes.”

“The Celts topic was interesting. I put a lot of effort into making my powerpoint  but I really enjoyed it.”  said Eamon.

“I felt really pleased with the Celtic house that I made.” Matthew said.

Designing Magnetic Games

Check out P3d’s Blog. Over the last number of weeks P3d have been investigating forces on magnetic and non-magnetic items. We worked together in small groups at a variety of Stations to learn about magnets.

From there we progressed to designing magnetic games. We had to decide on what type of game we wanted to create and then decide on the materials that would be needed. We wrote out instructions so that other groups would know how to play our games.

We are really pleased with our finished games!
