P3b have been very busy!

Primary 3b have already been very busy, this term. Have a look at some of the things we have been learning.

This week, outdoors, we were consolidating our knowledge of times tables and addition strategies.  We collected sticks, bark, leaves and stones.

We created pictures using the materials we had gathered.  We allocated each object a value and then we calculated the total value of our pictures.  We had a lot of fun doing this challenge.

“My favourite part of this was collecting all the stuff.  It was like we were going on an adventure.” (Aleena)

“I liked making the pictures and calculating what value they were worth.” (Cian)

“I liked collecting all the stuff. I also liked working in my group with Gabriel E, Samuel and Cian.” (James)

This term, we have started doing gymnastics in PE. This week, we were stretching, balancing and working on controlling our bodies.  We had some very talented leaders and demonstrators.

“I liked demonstrating jumping over the bench.  My favourite part of it was choosing three shapes to make with my body.” (Mia)

“I liked doing the bridges in gymnastics.  I loved being a team leader.” (Sarah)

In Talking & Listening, we learned about children’s and teachers rights.  We had a group discussion about what we thought were rights and what were responsibilities.

Today, we had a real treat trying out the new Virtual Reality headsets.  We had a go at using them to get used to them.  We are looking forward to using them as part of our learning this term.

P3 Numeracy fun!

P3b and P3d are having great fun, in maths, this term.

“I liked breaking up the fractions and trying to see which ones would fit together.” (Gabriel B – 3b)

“I liked using the foam fractions because it was great fun.  I liked using the one that was like a big pizza.  Me and Matthew made houses out of them.”

(Joseph H – 3d)

“I liked making the fraction pizzas and I love playing games on the laptops.” (Emily – 3d)

“I liked that we could make things out of the shapes.  We made an alien pop star.” (Mia – 3b)

“I liked how we could make whatever we wanted out of the shapes. My favourite part of maths is when we use the laptops because we do a whole load of different games.  Sometimes Miss Gavin sets us games and sometimes we can choose our own.” (Sophie – 3b)

“I liked making different things out of the big shapes.  I also like playing all the games on the laptops.” (Matthew – 3d)

“I liked how we play games on the laptops because they are a lot of fun.”

(Joseph K – 3d)

“I like using the laptops because it helps me to learn big numbers when I’m playing games.” (Eve – 3b)

“I like how we are doing different tasks in small groups.  I really liked using the big shapes because it was a good way of helping me learn them. I like how Miss Gavin challenges us with different games, on the laptops, every week.”

(Penny – 3b)

“I liked using the big games. I liked making shapes with the big shapes.”

(Callum – 3b)

“I liked working with our workbooks this week.  The big numbers were very challenging. I liked the big shapes because they were nice and glittery.”

(Rachel – 3b)

“My favourite game was the dominoes because I liked how we could build them up and knock them down.  We made calculations with the spots on them.” (Maggie – 3b)

Have a look what P3c have been doing today!

Have a look at what we have been doing today. A very busy Monday in 3c!

Numeracy

Have a look at the range of activities we have been participating in this week during Numeracy. Some of us were practising our Vertical Subtraction. We have also been learning about information handling and have been creating our own bar graphs and Carroll diagrams. We have been playing games on MyCity to help us read information from tables and graphs. We have also been learning about fractions and have been finding a fraction of a number. We played pairs with fraction cards to learn in a fun way! Have a look below.

This is us enjoying playing Battle of the Giants to practise our mental maths skills.

Healthy Eating – a visit from Warburtons!

Today we were lucky enough to have Warburtons visit us. We learned all about healthy eating and the different food groups. We were taught about what we need to do before we prepare food and then we got the chance to create our own sandwich with a choice of filling! Warburtons also gave us a loaf of Warburtons bread to take home and make our own sandwiches.

World Religions Week

During the last fortnight we have been learning about Judaism. We were lucky enough to have Mrs Wolfson speak to us this afternoon about different aspects of the Jewish faith.

Special Achievement

We are so proud of Matthew Brophy in our class who has been fundraising for the Beatson Cancer Charity. Matthew managed to raise £290 by asking his friends to donate to the Beatson instead of buy him a Birthday present. What a lovely act of kindness Matthew.

Class Assembly

Please remember that this Friday at 9:15am it is our class assembly in the Junior Hall. If you are free please come and join us.

Primary 3b have been very busy!

P3b have been very busy this week and last week.

Last week outdoors, we made shapes with sticks and put cubes into them, to identify angles in shapes.

This week, we made numbers with sticks, and put cubes into the numbers to show where the angles were and how many they could find.

This term, for science, P3b are working in the STEM room, exploring forces. We have been working with magnets and investigating whether or not materials are magnetic. They have been doing a lot of research and investigation.
