Have a look at what P3c have been doing this week!

Eastwood House

This afternoon as part of our Outdoor learning, we went to Eastwood House to learn more about our Local Area which is our topic. We found out about the history of Eastwood House and then did a quiz about what we learned.

VR Headsets

During Digital Technology Week we have been using a range of technology to enhance our learning experiences. Have a look at us trying out the VR headsets.

Local Area topicĀ

We have been using the Chromebooks to find out about local businesses in our area and why they are important to the local community. Then we created some information leaflets about a local business.

We also designed our own business which we thought the community needed. We had to think of a name for the business, what it would sell or provide and explain why it would be important.

P3d Conduct a Traffic Survey!

As part of our Local Area Study P3d went outdoors to conduct a traffic survey.Ā  We registered the different types and the frequency of theĀ traffic. Back in class we used the laptops to put the information into spreadsheets and then created bar charts.

Digital Learning week in P3a.

Today primary 3a exploredĀ Ā how the tilt of the Earth, on its axis as it
circles the sun, causes the pattern of seasons. We explored this through the use of different types of technology.

We used the school laptops to watch clips on the rotation of the Sun, Moon and Earth and developed our own questions for our peers.

We used Virtual Reality Headsets to visit the moon and other places in space.

We also worked on our prior learning and we were able to sort the phases of the Moon into the correct order!

P3b – Lots of learning!

Science – Earth, Moon and Sun

Primary 3b have been learning about the Earth, the moon and the sun.Ā  They have been observing and recording the earth, the sun and the moon at various times.Ā  They have been exploring and describing their patterns of movement and changes over time.Ā  They have been relating these to the length of a day, a month and a year.

They can describe how the Earth spins around its axis in 24 hours resulting in day and night.Ā They can explain why the moon appears to have different shapes and positions in the sky at different times in a lunar month.

“I like learning about the solar system because I love space.Ā  I find it very interesting that the moon changes shape every few nights in a lunar month.” (Gabriel E)

“I like the videos about the moon because they are really funny.Ā  I also like that I know a lot of facts about the earth, the sun and the moon.” (Jai)

Literacy – Outdoor LearningĀ

This week, they were using the outdoors as inspiration to solve some riddles.Ā  After that, they came up with their own riddles, using vocabulary from their outdoor environment.Ā  They really loved this activity and had a lot of fun, being creative, coming up with their own.

Well done P3b – Keep up all the hard work!Ā  šŸ™‚

Keep up the hard work 3b! šŸ™‚

Earth, Moon and Sun

Primary 3c have been learning about Space, in particular the Earth, Sun and Moon.Ā  They have been exploring and describing their patterns of movement and changes over time and have been relating these to the length of a day, a month and a year.

In the STEM room we used various media including books, chromebooks and VR headsets to research further information.

P3b have been very busy!

Primary 3b have already been very busy, this term.Ā Have a look at some of the things we have been learning.

This week, outdoors, we were consolidating our knowledge of times tables and addition strategies.Ā  We collected sticks, bark, leaves and stones.

We created pictures using the materials we had gathered.Ā  We allocated each object a value and then we calculated the total value of our pictures.Ā  We had a lot of fun doing this challenge.

ā€œMy favourite part of this was collecting all the stuff.Ā  It was like we were going on an adventure.ā€ (Aleena)

ā€œI liked making the pictures and calculating what value they were worth.ā€ (Cian)

ā€œI liked collecting all the stuff. I also liked working in my group with Gabriel E, Samuel and Cian.ā€ (James)

This term, we have started doing gymnastics in PE. This week, we were stretching, balancing and working on controlling our bodies.Ā  We had some very talented leaders and demonstrators.

ā€œI liked demonstrating jumping over the bench.Ā  My favourite part of it was choosing three shapes to make with my body.ā€ (Mia)

ā€œI liked doing the bridges in gymnastics.Ā  I loved being a team leader.ā€ (Sarah)

In Talking & Listening, we learned about children’s and teachers rights.Ā  We had a group discussion about what we thought were rights and what were responsibilities.

Ā Ā

Tennis Fun

Primary 3c had a fantastic morning practising their tennis skills through a range of activities.

At this station we were working with our partners using sticky bats and foam balls.

At this station we were controlling the tennis balls simultaneously. We had to use teamwork and coordination skills.

Then we practised hitting the ball with tennis rackets while our partners threw the ball to us.
