Primary 4’s Souptastic Day!

We have been learning a lot about ways to keep our bodies healthy.Ā  It’s really important to make sure we eat food that is good for us.Ā  Today we combined our ‘weighing’ skills from Numeracy, with our Healthy Food topic, and made some delicious soup.Ā  Ā We had to weigh out each of the ingredients using scales, and then heat it up over the hob with some vegetable stock!

We talked about a healthy recipe, and then made it together as a class.Ā  It tasted delicious, we definitely would recommend you give it a go!

P4’s Local Area Topic

Primary 4c have been conducting lots of online research about our Local Areas.Ā  As a class, we decided to create informative books which tell others a little bit about the areas they come from.Ā  We split into groups, and each group was in charge of a different area!

We are creating books about:

  • Thornliebank
  • Clarkston
  • Giffnock
  • Williamwood
  • Netherlee

First we have researched all of the information.Ā  Then we are laying it out clearly and creatively on all of the different pages of our books.Ā  We’ve had to practise our drawing skills, and sometimes double check the facts using a few different websites and sources.Ā  It’s definitely a challenge, but we’re learning a lot!

Stay tuned to see the finished results!

A busy week in P4a!

Primary 4a are enjoying taking part in the First Minister’s Reading Challenge and have created a bar chart to keep a record of how many books they have read. They participated in Drop It and Read last week for Book Week. When they heard the whistle go off in class they stopped what they were doing and read their private reading books.

We are taking part in The Hour of Code and to launch this Mrs Neil introduced us to some very exciting coding websites. Primary 4a are extremely talented and writing their own games and activities using different coding software. Use the links on Glow to show off your coding skills at home too!

Chloe brought in her world record attempt for tap to show the class. A very well deserved certificate!

P4c’s Autumn Walk

We had a lovely time on our Autumn Walk today! We were all outside, listening to the sounds of Autumn.Ā  It was a beautiful day and we recorded lots of adjectives and descriptions in our notes.

Next week we will be writing Autumn Poems based on our experiences… we are going to make them as descriptive as possible!

Then finished off our walk with a quick game of tig, led by Ethan – our Work Experience student from St Ninians.Ā  It’s been great having him along to work with us today!

Last Week in P4d

It was a very busy week last week in Primary 4d. Over the October break, the pupils had been working exceptionally hard to research a Famous, Historical or Influential Scot of their choice and create a presentation or poster. The pupils then presented all of their fantastic work to their class mates. We learned lots about the achievements of various Scottish people who have inspired us and were able to ask and answer questions. Very well done everyone!

We also had a visit from Mary’s Meals. We made porridge smiles and Primary 4d were very generous with their donations.

And finally, it was Freya’s last day with us before moving school. After a little party in class to say farewell, we had a guard of honour for her. Good luck at your new school Freya!

Mary’s Meals

Primary 4 took part in the Mary’s Meals Porridge Smiles Party on Friday 26th October. We worked with Mrs Baird and Mrs McArdle to design a bowl of porridge and had fun doing it. We have raised over Ā£300 and counting, towards the Porridge Smiles appeal. It costs just Ā£13.90 to feed a child for a whole school year so every penny really does count.
