P6 Digital Leaders

P6 had another busy afternoon sharing their terrific talent with some P1 pupils. They did some sequencing and directions with beebots. Then finished off with some Scratch Junior on iPads.

Ā

Thanks again to our Primary 6 digital leaders. You are doing a fantastic job in your leadership role.

Well done šŸ™‚

P6 Digital Leaders Coding Club

Primary 6 digital leaders led their own coding club at lunchtime today, for some P1 and P2 pupils.

They had a fantastic time!

Thank you so much to Marcus, Matthew R, Matthew B and Maaz for sharing your knowledge with the boys and girls today. They loved it!

Well done Primary 1 and 2, you did a super job šŸ™‚

Miss Gavin

Poetree

Primary 5A enjoyed using their Technology and Literacy skills to create poems about trees. We looked for inspiration using all of our senses and worked as a group to record them with chalk, mud ink or by spontaneous performance!

STEM Workshop

P4b loved hearing about Joe’s job as a Civil Engineer with Network Rail. We were excited to hear that the Harry Potter bridge to Hogwarts is in Scotland and to try on some of the safety gear!

We were challenged to work in teams to build a bridge using Lego; some of us were more successful than others!

Data Handling

Primary 4a have been developing their maths skills in STEM this week. They have been discussing inheritance and comparing generations of families. They collected data on a fictional family and presented it neatly into a tally chart. They then used the data to create a bar chart and extended themselves even further by learning to create bar charts using excel! Well done P4a!

Here are some pictures of them collecting data for a survey of their own choice which they will use to create written and electronic bar charts independently.

A Busy Time in P4b!

It has been a busy time in Primary 4b!

Primary 7 came and read some of Jesus’ miracles to us during Catholic Education Week.

Mr Harris came from St Ninian’s to teach us Scratch Coding. We have enjoyed programming our Cat and Pokemon and we are even creating our own games!

Mrs Neil came and introduced us to the Hour of Code website where we created a Dance Music Video! It was great fun and we are looking forward to using it again duringĀ  Hour of Code Week.

We have been working with our writing partners to write disaster stories called The Nightmare Just Before Christmas, they’re coming along nicely!

When we were asked to create poems about Autumn but winter had almost arrived, we used the VR Headsets to go on an Autumn Walk and use our sense of sight. We then went outside to find inspiration for our other senses!

A busy week in P4a!

Primary 4a are enjoying taking part in the First Minister’s Reading Challenge and have created a bar chart to keep a record of how many books they have read. They participated in Drop It and Read last week for Book Week. When they heard the whistle go off in class they stopped what they were doing and read their private reading books.

We are taking part in The Hour of Code and to launch this Mrs Neil introduced us to some very exciting coding websites. Primary 4a are extremely talented and writing their own games and activities using different coding software. Use the links on Glow to show off your coding skills at home too!

Chloe brought in her world record attempt for tap to show the class. A very well deserved certificate!
