We have been learning all about data handling.Ā Having discussed the variety of ways used to represent data, we can interpret and draw conclusions from the information displayed.
Today, we worked collaboratively in groups of four, to gather and present data.Ā We used this data, outdoors, to create graphs using outdoor materials.
What great fun we had! Look at our amazing pictures.
Well done Primary 5c! You did an amazing job today.
Have a happy October break to you and your families š
Today primary 4a welcomed two engineers into their class to talk about their jobs. The class learned lots of new information, confidently asked questions and even took part in some experiments. Some of primary four are now even considering jobs in engineering.
Primary 4a have been exploring shapes and their properties this week. They have developed their confidence at naming 2d and 3D shapes and can use the correct vocabulary to describe them.
āI know that a cuboid has 12 edges and 6 faces.ā Adam
āA cube has 6 faces.ā Euan
Primary 4a have been developing their estimation skills in Numeracy this week. They worked in groups to estimate the weight of different classroom objects. They confidently used the scales to weigh the items and recorded the weight using the correct vocabulary.
Primary 4a have been developing their maths skills in STEM this week. They have been discussing inheritance and comparing generations of families. They collected data on a fictional family and presented it neatly into a tally chart. They then used the data to create a bar chart and extended themselves even further by learning to create bar charts using excel! Well done P4a!
Here are some pictures of them collecting data for a survey of their own choice which they will use to create written and electronic bar charts independently.
Primary 4b have been learning about directions and grids in Numeracy. We programmed the Beebots to follow directions around the mat, it was great fun!Ā
Cian’s team won Team of the Year in Irish Football! Well done Cian!
Primary 4b enjoyed creating symmetrical pictures in our outdoor classroom. We gathered items from nature and worked together in pairs to create some beautiful work!
P4b have been learning about estimating and measure in Maths. We used our knowledge of everyday objects and our eye for detail to estimate the length of items of our choice. We measured the items and recorded and compared the results.
We then used some different measuring instruments to measure larger objects and distance outside. Our estimates improved with practice!
Primary 4a used their knowledge of everyday classroom objects to make estimates of length. They then used their rulers to accurately measure the items they had chosen to the nearest centimetre, recorded the information in their jotters and compared their estimates to the actual lengths.
