Primary 6 perform their Easter Cantata

Today, at Eastwood Theatre, Primary 3 were very lucky to be the audience for Primary 6’s Easter Cantata.  And what a treat it was!

Primary 6 did a magnificent job of retelling the story of Easter.  Some of us were very proud of siblings but we were all extremely entertained by everyone’s wonderful acting and singing.

Primary 3 really enjoyed their experience at the theatre.

When we came back to school, we chatted about what we thought of the Primary 6’s special performance.

  • “I loved the encore at the end when we got to hear the song ‘Roll back the stone’ twice.”
  • “I thought it was dazzling because they all looked really great in their costumes.”
  • “Jesus was really good at his parts.  I loved his singing.”
  • “The Harpist at the beginning was magnificent.”
  • “The boys and girls were very expressive and sang out loudly.”
  • “I think Miss Kane was brilliant on the piano.”
  • “I thought it was amazing because I really liked the songs.”
  • “I thought the props were really good.”
  • “We thought it was very entertaining.”
  • “The acting was outstanding and they remembered all their lines.”
  • “Fantastic performance P6 – We loved your show. We were all very impressed.”

Scottish Catholic Education Week

Primary 3b have been really busy recently.

This year, the theme for Scottish Catholic Education week is, ”Serving the Common Good”.

We have been learning about the part we play in making the world a better place.  We discussed how we serve the Common Good in our homes, our school and our communities.

In school, we have been trying to show kindness, patience and fairness to everyone.  We have been working as a team during PE.

We have been doing team games and trying really hard to apply the skills, we have learned during Catholic Education Week, everyday at school.

Have a look what 3c have been doing!

RE

In RE we have been focusing on the theme of Catholic Education Week- Serving the Common Good. We have been learning about how we can all work together to do this and created leaflets and posters about ways in which we can do this in our own lives.

Music

Our Music specialist has been busy working with us again. We have been listening to the story of Peter and the Wolf and identifying the different instruments we hear in the story.

Science

In Science we have been learning about germs and diseases. We enjoyed carrying out an experiment on a potato in which we predicted and then tested where most germs would grow on a potato which had been outside, in a control bag, on the floor or which had touched our hands. The conclusion we found was that most germs grew on the potato which had been on the ground outside however our hands and the floor also had lots of germs!

Outdoor Learning

We have been learning about different angles in numeracy and have learned to identify a right, straight, obtuse and acute angle. For outdoor learning we had to create numbers using sticks and identify with the cubes the angles in each number.

Art

We have been learning about the work of a Scottish artist called Steven Brown. After learning about his life and his work we have been replicating his work. Have a look at some of the amazing giraffes that we produced using coloured pencil. Next we will be drawing Highland cows and using oil pastels as our media.
