P3b Present their research projects!

Primary 3b have been very busy! Last term they learned all about The Celts.

As part of their homework research task they selected an aspect of Celtic life in the past and by using historical evidence, they produced some amazing pieces of evidence.

Ā

Some boys and girls choose to make Power Points about Celtic food, homes, weapons and even Law and order in Celtic times.Ā  Some of them made models of swords, shields and roundhouses.Ā  Others made fact files and posters.Ā  The pupils very much enjoyed showing off their projects and worked very hard on their presenting skills.

They loved comparing aspects of Celtic life to modern day life and contributing to many discussions around this.Ā  They found out some amazing facts and really enjoyed sharing them with the class.

P3b have done some wonderfully impressive research and investigation and they have really learned from one anotherā€™s presentations.

Well done P3b, very impressive work.

P3b – Badminton

Today, P3b were working very hard on their control skills in PE.Ā  They really enjoyed using balloons to practice controlling a piece of light equipment like a shuttlecock.

The balloons were a fantastic way of allowing the pupils control and manoeuvre quickly whilst trying to keep them in the air.Ā  They used badminton rackets in pairs to practice their passing skills.

Then, they worked in teams of four to practice passing the balloon through a hoop.Ā  This was a great way for them to practice keeping control of the balloon whilst trying to get it through the hoop.

Well done P3b.Ā  You worked very hard this morning as a team and you were very successful. We are looking forward to lots more fun playing badminton.

P3b play cricket!

P3b had a great afternoon playing cricket.

They have been discovering a little bit about the game of cricket.Ā  Today, they were working on linking actions of throwing and catching the ball.Ā  They were very motivated to practice and improve their skills to develop control and flow of the ball.

Ā  Ā

They are keen to continue playing cricket.Ā Ā They did really well today, following instructions and working as a team.

Well done P3b, Keep up the good work!

Primary 6 perform their Easter Cantata

Today, at Eastwood Theatre, Primary 3 were very lucky to be the audience for Primary 6’s Easter Cantata.Ā  And what a treat it was!

Primary 6 did a magnificent job of retelling the story of Easter.Ā  Some of us were very proud of siblings but we were all extremely entertained by everyone’s wonderful acting and singing.

Ā

Primary 3 really enjoyed their experience at the theatre.

When we came back to school, we chatted about what we thought of the Primary 6’s special performance.

  • ā€œI loved the encore at the end when we got to hear the song ‘Roll back the stone’ twice.”
  • ā€œI thought it was dazzling because they all looked really great in their costumes.”
  • ā€œJesus was really good at his parts.Ā  I loved his singing.”
  • ā€œThe Harpist at the beginning was magnificent.”
  • ā€œThe boys and girls were very expressive and sang out loudly.”
  • ā€œI think Miss Kane was brilliant on the piano.”
  • ā€œI thought it was amazing because I really liked the songs.”
  • ā€œI thought the props were really good.”
  • ā€œWe thought it was very entertaining.”
  • ā€œThe acting was outstanding and they remembered all their lines.”
  • ā€œFantastic performance P6 – We loved your show. We were all very impressed.”

P3b – Science ā€“ Forces & Magnets

For the last 6 weeks, in the STEM room, P3b have been exploring forces exerted by magnets.Ā  They have been investigating forces on magnetic and non-magnetic materials.

This week, they have been applying their knowledge of magnetic materials and in groups, they contributed to the design of a game.

First, they had to logically organise their information about magnets and magnetic materials.Ā  Then they had to decide what materials they needed to create and design their own game.

Lastly, they wrote out instructions for their games so that they could test them all out.

They had fantastic fun working with magnets and forces and loved making their own games.

P3b Data Handling Outdoors

Today, P3b were putting their numeracy skills to the test outdoors.

We have been learning about putting information into carroll diagrams, venn diagrams and charts.

Today, they collected an assortment of outdoor materials, and sorted them into groups.Ā  They then put that information into a chart of their choice.

P3b have really been enjoying transferring their numeracy skills to their outdoor learning.

Well done P3b.Ā  Keep up the hard work šŸ™‚
