Forest school

This week we were working towards our Make you Mark achievement. Learning about lean to shelters. Pupils foraged for sticks to build a strong shelter than would keep their character safe and dry.

They worked in pairs and showed good team work, communicating, sharing and making decisions together.

Of course there was also plenty time for climbing and exploring. We also found a Fern root ball and the children were full of stories of mice, hedgehogs and other forest animals it looked like.

Our Place in Space

Primary Two have been loving our current topic, Our Place in Space. We had a free flow afternoon, where pupils worked across the classroom. There were may activities covered

Painting the solar system, Making aliens, Building rockets, Using the chromebooks, Writing and drawing space stories.

Our afternoon ended with story time with Miss McHaffie.

Maths Week Scotland

Maths Week Scotland was a busy week for Primary 2. Each day we’ve had a different challenge to complete and we’ve been thinking about money, shapes and direction.

As part of our homework we found out how our families use mathematics in the everyday.

We wrote stories using number sequence knowledge which prompted interesting conversations about our number knowledge.

The biggest event of the week was the Whole School challenge. Pupils had to work as a group of 4 to build a tower.  We worked in random groups using our tally cards to choose groups.  We sketched the designs first and then commenced the build.

During the challenge, we had to contribute our ideas and listen to our team, share materials and make compromises.
