Travelling Crib

This morning primary two gathered together for a prayer service to celebrate the beginning of Advent. We discussed that Advent is a time of preparation and that Jesus is the true meaning of Christmas. As a year group, we are taking part in The Travelling Crib project, where children will get to take the nativity scene home to share with their families and reflect on the true meaning of Christmas together. Please tweet and share any pictures when it is your turn!

World Diabetes Day

Monday the 14th November marked World Diabetes day.  According to Diabetes UK someone is diagnosed with diabetes every two minutes.  As part of our health and wellbeing curriculum in Primary 2, we learn about how to look after our bodies. We were fortunate to have an expert visitor share her knowledge in the subject. During her talk, we learned about the pancreas, blood sugar levels and signs of hypos to look out for in our friends with diabetes.

We are extremely grateful to our expert for giving her own time to share her knowledge and develop our understanding of a common condition.

Book Week Scotland

This week Primary two have been encouraged to share books which they enjoy.  We listened to the stories two pupils brought in and both got a big thumbs up.

On Friday we received our Read, Write, Count book bags and took these home. Today we read The Perfect Fit. We were thinking about how our class community comes together.
We then used shapes around our class to show how every shape can be useful to make the perfect thing.
