Week 12 Learning (WB 6th November)

During assembly on Wednesday, Primary 5 shared 2 of their Make your Mark experiences with the whole school.  Abiela and Logan from p5a spoke about when we made smoothies. Anas and Hawaa from our class presented about Pond Dipping.  Our presenters were fabulous!  P5 were fantastic audience members encouraging and supporting their classmates who were bravely leading the presentation.

We recapped the names of angles during our maths lesson on Tuesday with this fun song! It’s so catchy the song has been stuck in Mrs Sutherland’s head all week!!

In French this week we enjoyed playing a game of ‘Jacque A Dit’ (Simon Says).  It was a fun way of testing our knowledge of french body parts!  Ask us how to play at home and see how well we do!!

Our focus in PE is Scottish Ceilidh dancing in preparation for our next Make your Mark learning experience.  We had fun learning the Virginia Reel! It was tricky to keep in time with the music but we know we will be experts soon!

It is Book Week Scotland next week, children are welcome to bring in their favourite book to read and talk about in class! 📚❤️

Have a good weekend,

Mrs Sutherland.

WB 18th September -Music Lessons

P5b have been enjoying music lessons with Mrs Carey.  We have been learning about rhythm and pitch! We have been using our focusing skills and our team working skills when working in groups to throw and catch the ball in time with the song.
Mrs Carey taught us a new song which has actions.  Ask us to teach you it at home!!

WB 11th September -Week 5 Forest School and Technologies

At forest school we have been learning how to tie knots and to make shelters water proof.

We’ve been learning to code in technologies with Mrs Guy.  We used the programme called ‘Scratch’. We made a bus drive but Scratch the cat was late and didn’t get the bus on time however the flying hippo did get there in time!

We were using our digital skills and we were focusing to remember the codes.

WB 4th September -Week 5 Egyptian Artwork

Look at this amazing piece of Egyptian art that Arya brought in to share with the class.

Primary 5b enjoyed looking the picture.  We noticed the colours were amazingly bright and that the papyrus felt a little bit crispy, hard and grainy.

We also noticed the people in the painting were wearing eye make up and that there was symbols drawn on the walls.  We wondered what the symbols meant.🤔

Thank you so much for sharing your precious art with us Arya.

WB 4th September – Week 4 Forest School Week 2.

Primary 5b were able to tick off their first Make Your Mark experience on Monday at forest school.
Working collaboratively in small groups, they were tasked with building a waterproof shelter.
Each team was given a tarpauline sheet, four tent pegs and four bungie cords.
Children could also use sticks and other natural materials that they could collect in the forest.

The children identified that problem solving skills, team work and communication skills were vital to succeed in this challenge.

Mrs Sutherland also noticed the children were developing their adaptability, leadership and feeling skills too ensuring that everyone in the team felt valued and heard during this task.

Have a look at our photos and videos to see how each group created a unique waterproof shelter!

WB 28th August -Week 3 First visit to Forest School in p5!

At forest school we were getting used to the forest again.  Taking risks when climbing trees, being creative making oat and chestnut curry in the forest kitchen and playing team building skills building our confidence when moving around the forest.  We know to stay within the boundary trees to keep us safe.

Our topic in P5 is Egypt.  We were learning where to find Egypt on a map.  Did you know there are Asian elephants and African elephants? You can tell the difference by the shape of their ears.

Our Second Week

The boys and girls in Primary 4b have had a successful second week. They have all been working extremely hard and enjoyed opportunities to work together in groups. On Thursday we took our RE lesson outdoors and created short role plays about making good or bad choices. We rounded off our week with a fun Friday afternoon, playing board games with friends. Well done to those children who received awards this week too!
