Anti Bullying week

This week is national recognised as Anti-bullying week. It is an opportunity to discuss bullying, in order to prevent and also to reinforce what to do if it occurs.

Our choir members led a school to reinforce this message at assembly. Well done to all the children who participated in this!!! A brilliant achievement.

Many pupils wore odd socks to mark this week!

In class we completed a quiz about key words and phrases used around bullying. This was then an opportunity to discuss some misconceptions.  Our quiz winners are below.

Maths Week: STEM challenge

Pupils worked in small groups to build kit cars and robots. They had to use screw drivers and spanners to connect the plastic and metal pieces. They had to follow complex instructions, applying their understanding of 3D shape to build the various parts.

During the activity there was high levels of engagement despite it being very challenging. There was great team work with different pupils having different roles.

Well done to this team who completed their car in record time.

Taking our learning outdoors

Primary 5 love the opportunity to get outdoors especially if they get the opportunity to build. As you can see from the pictures below Primary  5 are very creative and can build engaging structures. These spaces became areas in which they acted out ‘war’ like situations based on our topic, The Scottish Wars of Independence. It’s great to see the class working together to build, create and role play.

Discussion

Primary 5 discussed what they felt was made a good pupil and a good teacher, they noted their expectations for both.  Cayden was quick to recognise that his expectations for his teachers matched what he felt made a good learner.  We will be continuing to explore ‘being a good learner’ throughout the year.
