Trip to Finlaystone Country Estate
On Thursday 30th Aug the whole school enjoyed a big day out at Finlaystone Park. Our class took part in an art in nature workshop with Lucy the ranger. She took us on a scavenger hunt to find interesting leaves and twigs. It was quite a walk of discovery, we found acorns, leaves, branches, moss and even a little teeny tiny frog! You should be able to find him in somewhere in the pictures below. The fun didn’t stop there, we also discovered some wild garlic- ask me to show the photo of it below, and some edible plants. One of the most interesting facts of the day was the discover of a plant called woodsorrel. You can eat it, it tastes a bit like sour grapes or apple. If you want to know more follow this link Wood sorrel
We were also able to spend some time at the adventure trail, the zip-line, the pirate ship before we relaxed with a stroll in the allotment and walled garden. They grow quite a crop at Finlaystone, apples, beetroot, berries and pumpkins.
