Nursery Newsletter 09.05.25

Hello everyone,

Upcoming Events
Please have a look at the parent calendar, available on our Netherlee Website, to see all the dates and times of the various events coming up.  This link will take you straight there https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/er/sandnc/calendar.

Parent Consultations
Thank you to all those parents who have already signed up for parent consultations with our keyworkers or nursery teacher. The appointment sheets are still in the foyer for you to choose a day and time that suits you best. We look forward to sharing all the progress with you.

Woodland and Local Walks
Over the next few weeks, we will be going for walks in Linn Park. Children will be offered this choice as part of the ongoing provision and we will display a reminder on our noticeboard and in the foyer. The children get so much from connecting with the natural world with friends, exploring the local green spaces and being out in the community learning about local shops and business.  We also plan to visit the local care home to sing a few songs and have a chat with the residents. The children and residents enjoy these visits and offer a great opportunity to practise conversation skills. These local walks are already covered by the local outing consent forms completed by parents and carers when children start with us at Netherlee. We are sure that the children will share their learning with you when you discuss their day!

Tie Gifting
We are very excited to invite you to our Nursery Tie Gifting for children leaving Netherlee Nursery to start school in August. This will take place on Wednesday 18th June and Friday 20th June between 9.45-10.30am.  Both events will take place in the Saplings building. We kindly ask that a maximum of two guests per child attend the Tie Gifting.

Please see dates and times below for the groups:

Wednesday 18th June: 9.45-10.30am
Owl
Deer
Rabbit
Butterfly
Fox

Friday 20th June: 9.45-10.30am
Otter
Hedgehog
Squirrel
Badger

The ceremonies will take place in the outdoor play area at the back of the Saplings building unless there is adverse weather. Parents and carers should arrive through the Saplings gate and enter through the side gate in the P3/4/5 playground.

Those not attending the tie gifting (including our younger children) on the above dates should still attend their normal nursery session. If your child does not normally attend on the days of the tie gifting, please just let us know should they still wish to take part- they are of course more than welcome!

Sports Week
Our annual sports week is fast approaching and we have already started to make plans to ensure this is a fun and exciting week for all children involved. We have been very lucky in previous years that parents and carers have come in to deliver sports sessions and presentations to make this a very memorable week.

If you have experience of coaching or participating in a sport, dance or any area of physical and mental wellbeing (Yoga, Pilates, Meditation) or you have links with a local club or group, Mrs Linn would love to hear from you! You could even come in to share a sport or activity from a different country! Please email nurserymail@netherlee.e-renfrew.sch.uk at your earliest convenience. Thank you for your continued support.

Photos
To help create a homely atmosphere in the nursery setting, it is good to have photographs of family members in our role play and dining areas as you perhaps would have at home. Please send in any family photos that you would be happy to have on display in this way and look out for them in nursery.

Collection Times
If your child has a core attendance pattern of 9.00 a.m. to 3.00p.m. you will have seen that this can be a very busy transition time.  We appreciate your help to ensure that our children are calm and kept safe by ensuring that you collect your child by 3pm sharp please.  This ensures that the playrooms continue to run smoothly with ongoing learning through play for the rest of the children and that staff are available to share relevant information with you if needed etc.   Thank you.

It has been another busy week at nursery with many of you participating in Stay and Play sessions. We thank you for your feedback and we hope you enjoyed your time with us playing, learning and even making new friends!

On this day, children who celebrate this festival and tradition are invited to wear their traditional Chinese clothing, if this is something that is readily available to them or, if they do not have traditional clothing, they are welcome to wear an item of clothing (top, skirt or trousers) in one of the Chinese lucky colours, which this year are black, red and yellow.

Please note this is optional. All other children should wear their usual school uniform or nursery clothes on this day please.
