Hello everyone,

Upcoming Events

Work Home
Your child will bring home their Literacy jotter and one other piece of work today to share with you over the weekend. We hope you enjoy looking over the work with your child and discussing their learning. Please could we ask that jotters are sent back into school on Monday as children will require these in class. Thank you.

Our next Chatter Café is on Wednesday 8 October and we look forward to welcoming you in for a cuppa and a catch up. Our wonderful P7 Diversity Department will also be attending, demonstrating a range of tools and helpful hints that you can use at home to help your child if they are finding spelling, aspects of maths or reading a bit tricky. We hope you are able to join us.

Maths Week Scotland
We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who supported our Maths Week Scotland activities! The week was a tremendous success, full of discovery and fun as pupils explored Mathematics beyond their classrooms. Our special thanks go to the wonderful parents and visitors who took the time to speak to the children, sharing real-world examples that brought mathematical concepts to life. Your input helped our pupils see that maths isn’t just in the classroom—it’s everywhere, from the spirals of a pinecone to the branching of trees—helping them understand why Maths is important and how they might use it every day.

Kindness Day – 20th October 2025
You may have seen recently that the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) are Running a kindness challenge week in October. Here at Netherlee we are embracing the idea of kindness to all and are having a “Kindness Day” throughout the school and nursery on Monday the 20th of October. Please see the letter with more information on the activities we have planned.

Celebrating Children’s Achievements
We always enjoy celebrating our children’s achievements, both in and out of school however, this session, we are making some changes to this process after speaking to groups of children and getting feedback from them.

Any out of school and any in-school achievements will now be displayed proudly on our lovely new House display boards. Please drop by to have a look any time you are in school, these are located in the link corridor leading off the atrium. These achievements can be big or small as we recognise that even what may appear as a small achievement to one person can be a huge success to another e.g. Learning to ride a bike or gaining a badge at swimming. In order to submit the information about your child’s out of school achievements, please complete the Google Form using the link below.  Please note the link will feature each week in our Friday newsletter and you are welcome to send in achievements at any time.

Achievements Outside of School Google Form

No photographs are required. We will display your child’s name, details of their achievement and their house colour on the House Boards which we hope to fill with lots of wonderful achievements as we know so many of our children do fabulous things out with school.  As always, we would be very grateful for any feedback from parents/ carers in relation to this.

May this Diwali bring brightness into your homes, joy into your hearts, and prosperity into your lives. Wishing you a safe, peaceful, and joyous Diwali filled with love, laughter, and the glow of countless diyas.
