The pupils asked if they could create some firework art for Guy Fawkes. They experimented with paint to create bright firework shapes. 
French
We having been learning numbers to 50 and body parts in French. We have opportunities to listen and say French words as well as practise writing in French.
We had great fun practising reading and saying numbers in French using the video below.

Maths
Today we used the Maths Blueprint boards. This was our first time using these boards in p5 but we will be using them every week to support our learning of mental maths strategies.
Stewart – I enjoyed playing the game with the 100 number square where we had to ask Miss McVitie maths question to work out what number she was thinking of.
Isha – I liked using the boards.
Maths week competition
Have a look at our playground maths games that we designed during maths week for the school competition. We worked in small groups and sketch and discussed our initial ideas. Then we drew our final design and clearly displayed the rules. As a group we presented our ideas to the class before voting for the class winner to be entered into the school competition.
Maths week
This week we are celebrating maths week.
Outdoor Challenges
Stewart – We completed a maths treasure hunt in
the playground. We had to find cards and answer the question on the card. The answer to the calculation was on a different card
and we had to find it for the next maths question. We then did this again and again until we had finished.
Natalia – We got some leaves and sticks to create shapes.
Oliver – We showed the 2 metre distance that we need to keep and how many leaves made up 2 metres. There were 16 leaves.
Design an Outdoor Maths Game
We have been set a challenge to design an outdoor maths game. We worked in small groups to discuss initial ideas, agree on a final design and create rules for the game. The winning design within the school will be painted in our playground.

Resilience Alphabet – G
We have been looking at ways to build resilience using the Resilience Alphabet.
This week we explored the letter G.
G stands for gratitude. After discussions about what gratitude means, things we are grateful for and how we can show gratitude, we created ‘positive postcards’. These can be given to people to thank them for the small or big things that they do for us.

Natural Disasters – Volcanoes
In class, we are learning about natural disasters. Over the last week, we have discovered how volcanoes are formed and considered what it would be like to live near an active volcano.
The most exciting part of this learning has been making a model volcano from paper mache. We are going to investigate chemical reactions in Science and use our learning to replicate an eruption with our model volcanoes.
Multiplication Practise
In class, we have been trying different activities to help us learn our multiplication table facts. We have been playing multiplication board games, 52 card challenge game, ultimate times table challenge exercises and answering mental maths questions. However, one of our favourite activities is dancing and saying the multiplications along with the supermovers videos from the BBC. If you haven’t already heard them take a look here:

Data And Analysis
The Dividers maths group have been learning about using tables to record data and display results through a pictogram and bar graph. Due to the current restrictions, the group were not able to ask another class however, they had great fun using the phone on speaker to ask the other p5 class their survey question.
The next step will be for the pupils to use a spreadsheet to produce a graph.
