Rainforest Floor

We are learning all about the rainforest for our topic this term and today we were learning about the different layers of the rainforest and then focused specifically on the rainforest floor.

Did you know that only 2% of light actually reaches the rainforest floor and therefore it is very dark?!

We were also learning about the different animals that live on the rainforest floor and we have started a spectacular wall display to show all the different layers and animals such as the giant centipede and burrowing worms!

Resilience alphabet…E is for Exercise

Over the last few weeks we have been participating in daily discussions and completing work how to build and develop our resilience. We have been using a resilience alphabet to get the discussion going and think of many different strategies to help us build inner strength and well being. Today we are focusing on the letter E which stands for exercise.

We spoke about all the different kinds of exercise that we take part in and why exercise is so important for our bodies inside and out! We then took part in some mine craft Yoga because yoga is a great form of exercise to help us relax but also stay fit.

Phonics

This week our new sound is “ue” which sounds the same as “oo”.

After we did our teacher time, we moved round 5 carousel stations completing tasks linked to the sound. Mrs Galt even came in and joined in too with the learning.

ICT skills

We are learning in ICT how to create our own PowerPoint on google slides. Today we learnt how to create a slide, how to add more slides to our presentation and add a picture. We are already excited for next week to keep on learning new ICT skills and practising the ones we learnt today.

Expressive Arts

After a very busy morning of maths and phonics, we let our creative energy  out with some expressive arts. We are learning about the artist Paul Klee who is an abstract artist. We examined some of his paintings and discussed them. We learnt he likes to use 2d shapes within his paintings.

Have a look at some of ours….
