We decided to use our drawing skills that we have been learning in the theme of Zentangles to design the shells. Before we draw directly onto the shells, we drew patterns onto paper shells first.
Next week we will using fine tip pens draw our Zentangles onto the shells.
Ruairi came up with the idea to make the shells next into bracelets and necklaces so we will ask Mr Weir to help us make holes in the shells next week ready to be created into jewellery.
Today was finally the day that we held our much anticipated George V’s Grandma Puppet show. P3 came along to watch and they loved every minute of it. The boys and girls showed off their acting skills throughout and stayed in character very well!
The puppet show displayed pupil led learning from the outset; the idea came from a pupil, each group created their own dialogue scenes, designed their own backdrops, tickets and posters (which were bursting with literacy skills!). Well done p3/2, a fantastic class effort!
This morning we had our first outing to the library. We had a brilliant time choosing a book each to read in class and we listened to Peter read some of Roald Dahl’s revolting rhymes! We can’t wait to get reading the books in class next week!
This morning as the sun was beaming through our windows, Luke noticed that he could make shadow puppets on the tables. Suddenly the room was full of different shadow shapes being created with hands and different objects in the classroom.
Mrs McNee then took the learning outdoors and the children analysed their shadows outside, they looked at their positioning to make the biggest shadow and we chased our shadows too!
The much anticipated George V’s Grandma Puppet Show is coming together nicely. This afternoon we made up tickets, and posters for the show. We learnt that tickets must have the time, date, location and the name of the show on them and posters must have the same information but they should be colourful and eye catching to make people notice them and want to come!
Both P3 and P2 were learning their new sounds for this week this morning.
P2’s sound of the week is “sn” and together we came up with lots of excellent words that start with sn.
We then played “sn” bingo. We had to listen very carefully to the sounds in the words because “sneeze” and “snooze” do sound quite similar.
P3’s sound of the week is “str”. We were on fire this morning and we came up with so many words that there wasn’t much space left on the board!!!
We then were set a group target which was to complete 2 games all linked to our “str” sounds. There was lots of tricky words that tried to catch us out.
This morning P2 had a fantastic time using the BeeBots to help us with our directions during maths. We worked with a partner and we had to lay out a route for the BeeBot to take. This allowed us to practice giving out directions and checking that they are followed correctly.
Primary 2 have been learning all about right angles. We are learning how to turn in a right angle. Before we got turning however, we had to remind ourselves what way right and left are. Using out left hand helps us because our thumb and pointing finger make an “L” shape. We enjoyed being outside and giving each other directions about what way to turn.
On Thursday we will be giving the directions to the Bee Bots!
This morning the primary 3 were learning their 5 times table. We learnt a “catchy” song and we practiced in the classroom. We then took the learning outdoors and with a partner we wrote out the 5 times table on the ground.
Here is the link to practice the song at home:
