Meeting Learner Needs in East Renfrewshire

Getting it Right for Every Child

Deciding The Stage

The stage should reflect the level of intervention and coordination required to meet the learner’s needs.   The stage should be decided by considering:

  • The significance of needs
  • The personnel delivering support
  • The level of individualised and targeted support required to identify and meet needs (nature, intensity, frequency and duration)
  • The need for a lead professional
  • The frequency by which the child’s needs require review by the planning team.  The needs of pupils placed at Stage 2 should be planned for and reviewed through the school’s Joint Support Team (JST): JOINT SUPPORT TEAM GUIDANCE
