Safer Internet Day!

As part of ‘Safer Internet Day’ we read some ‘Digiduck’ stories about where we use the internet in everyday life and how we can keep safe whilst using the internet. We took part in a ‘Discussion Disco’ and when the music stopped we had to work with a partner to discuss some of the questions on the board about the story.

Pupil A ‘You should always double check information you read on the internet’

Pupil B ‘Always be kind to your friends on the internet’

Pupil C ‘You can speak to an adult about anything which frightens you on the internet.’

Today there was lots of creativity going on through play. Some children were making dragons for Chinese New Year. Others were playing Nessy to support and develop their Literacy skills. We even had some children making up a pantomime and selling tickets for it! Great job everyone!

Summarising!

Before the holidays we visited the school library to look for Christmas stories. We had a class vote and used tally marks to vote for the story we wanted to read the most. The most popular story was ‘The Snowman’ and we used it to learn about summarising. First of all we picked out the main points of the story together then worked in groups to create freeze frames. Then we had to guess what main point each group was portraying. After that we put them in order and finally we wrote summaries independently, including all of the main points.  Well done boys and girls!
