This afternoon we had a picnic at the Relaxation Station. We listened to relaxing music, read, chatted to our friends and enjoyed some delicious snacks. Some of us even had a wee lie down!
Poster Competition
Well done to everyone who entered our poster competition focused on raising awareness of plastic pollution. Mrs Noble had a very difficult job selecting the winner.
Well done to Aleena for being our winner 🙂 You will now see Aleena’s poster as you walk into the Avenue Shopping Centre.
Rugby
Today we were working on our rugby passes. We focused on the pop pass and the spin pass. We then added further challenge to this by being tasked to complete the pass while moving. We worked very well with our partners and are eager to continue our learning next week 🙂
Pop Art
We took simple images of sea creatures and made them POP through the use of line and lots of colour. We were very proud of our creations 🙂
Eco Garden Reading
Sometimes a change of scenery is just what is needed during all the end of term chaos. We enjoyed reading our assigned pages of our reading books in the Eco Garden before returning to class to complete our follow on activities.
Tiddler’s Late!
During our writing lesson today, our target was to include descriptive words in our stories to make them more interesting for our readers. We reminded ourselves of the story ‘Tiddler’ which we had read last week. We used this book to spark our imaginations!
We started by selecting a sea creature(noun) from the book and built a sentence around it which included an adjective, verb and adverb. After this, while working in pairs we chose from a range of under the sea pictures and wrote lots of adjectives describing each.
Finally, our writing was to create another reason why Tiddler was late to school. We made a plan with our partner and then wrote some amazing stories in our writing jotters. Mrs Kennedy was very impressed with the work produced 🙂
Sea Creature Research
Today we listened to the story ‘Tiddler’, a book by Julia Donaldson. As we listened, we had to write down all the sea creatures which appeared or were mentioned in the book. By the end, we had whiteboards filled with sea creatures!
We then got the Chromebooks and were tasked with researching three of our chosen sea creatures from our boards. We used trusted sites to find information and began working on our note taking skills.
We loved learning about the angler fish, although some of us found it a little scary!
Litter Picking
The children have all been added to a rota for litter picking for the next two weeks where they visit designated areas in the school to focus on. They have shown excellent attitudes towards this and have already made a huge difference to our school grounds. 3.11 are aware of the impact that litter has on our planet and have proven themselves to be responsible citizens in tackling this issue.
Impromptu Class Photoshoot
The class are all looking very smart today 🙂
We are looking forward to getting our official class photo taken tomorrow.
Maths Stations
In Maths we have been consolidating our learning. On Tuesday we rotated around different stations.
Station 1 – Roll the dice
Here we worked with a partner and rolled the dice to make different calculations using either add, subtract or multiply. We had calculators to check our answers were correct.
Station 2 – Number fans
Here we worked with Mrs Stephenson on our mental maths skills. She asked us questions on number sequences and different calculations.
Station 3 – Money, Money, Money
Here, we looked at the different prices of toys displayed on the SmartBoard. We had to find the correct coins to use to pay for items.
