We were so proud to watch A on CBeebies starring in the show ‘I can do it, you can too’ where she learned to tap dance. This was also then shown at assembly 🙂 A huge achievement, well done!

Coding- School Values
During our Coding pathway in Mearns Masters, we have been using Scratch Jr. Our first project has been to create a cartoon to teach Primary 1 children the meaning of our school values. On Scratch Jr, we can change backgrounds, create characters, make objects move, add voice overs, add text and so much more! Mrs Stephenson has been so impressed with how confident we are at working independently.
Today, we visited P1.2 and shared our creations. They loved the animations! When we arrived back in our class, we discussed what went well and what we could improve on.
Outdoor P.E
During our outdoor P.E slot, we have been focusing on improving our hockey skills. We have been practising holding our hockey stick correctly and passing a ball to our partner. After our lessons, we also get some time on the outdoor gym equipment which we love! This is always a highlight to our Tuesdays!
Letter Writing
We have been working on writing letters in class. A few weeks ago, we wrote a thank you letter. We learned how to set our letters out properly, including our school address.
Today, we have been writing letters to a new pen pal. We have made a connection with another school in East Renfrewshire and are writing to pupils in their primary 3 class. This was our first draft today and once we have received feedback from Mrs Stephenson we will re-draft and post our letters.
INTO FILM FESTIVAL
We loved going to Cineworld and seeing ‘Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile’. We were lucky to get the back row so some of us were able to have a little dance along with the fabulous songs!

House Challenge

Happy Halloween
Halloween was lots of fun in 3.11. We had our Spooktacular sporting event, had the opportunity to look at all of the fabulous pumpkin creations, listened to a story about a witch’s spell gone wrong and created and shared our own witch/wizard story through Drama.
STAR time ⭐️(Sitting Together And Reading)
In Literacy, we are continuing to work on our reading fluency and build on our confidence when reading aloud. Today, some of us paired up with members of our class whilst others were paired with primary 5 helpers. During this time, we took turns reading aloud and discussed the book we have been assigned for homework.
Lunch with the teacher 🥗 🥪
Well done to the previous Hufflepuff group for earning the most points before the holidays. They chose ‘ Lunch with the teacher’ as their reward. It has been lovely to sit together and eat whilst chatting about our day and interests ☺️
Paper making
Whilst completing our Designers pathway, we explored how paper is made and recycled. From this, we decided to try and make our own paper. We soaked old, shredded newspapers for a few days and this formed a pulp. We then poured the pulp and rolled it out flat, letting it dry. We were delighted that this successfully formed paper ! We loved the messiness of this process 🫣
