Fidget Spinners

On Thursday the 11th of May, the latest craze – Fidget Spinners – was incorporated into our P.E lesson. This fitted in perfectly as we had been doing gymnastics. We used our Fidget Spinners to do different balances and to create our own routine. Some of the routines included balances, benches and different types of rolls. It was so much fun to use them in P.E.

Primary 6 love to dance

Primary 6 have been so busy that we have forgotten to update our blog with all the fun things we have been doing!

On Wednesday the 10th of May we took part in a Bollywood dancing lesson. We began by doing a warm-up which involved copying some basic Bollywood dance moves along with some music in the background.  We then worked in groups to learn a dance routine to a popular Bollywood song and presented this to the class . To end the lesson we had a ‘dance battle’. It was boys vs. girls and was great fun! We have some great dancers in our class!

Math fun!

In numeracy, the red group have been learning about circles. We have learned the definitions of the  terms, radius, diameter and circumference. An activity we thoroughly enjoyed was blowing bubbles on to a piece of card and watching them pop. We then measured the diameter and used this to calculate the circumference. Blowing bubbles made our learning so much  fun! Check out the picture below!

Primary 6 Kabbalat Shabbat

On the Friday 28th of April, Primary 6 organised Kabbalat Shabbat. The theme of our Kabbalat Shabbat was  grape juice (Kiddush), this is what we  drink on Shabbat.

We began by singing some Shabbat songs. Then Aba (Daniel) and Ima (Flora) blessed the children (Ava and Esther).  After that we sang some more songs which was followed by a Q&A about the grape juice.

A funny moment was when Louis accidentally spilt his juice, it was hilarious. After that Aba  said Kiddush and Challah and we all got to eat and drink. To end Kabbalat Shabbat we sang our favourite song, Bim Bom. It was a great Kabbalat Shabbat and we all enjoyed it as much as everyone else did. Thank you to all of our parents who came along to watch!

Yom Ha’atzmaut Celebrations

Yom Ha’atzmaut is a modern holiday celebrating Israel’s independence in 1948.

On Tuesday the 2nd of May Primary 6 led the Yom Ha’atzmaut celebrations in the school. We were very happy to be given such a big responsibility.

Before the day arrived we worked as a class to discuss who was going to lead each station and what each station would involve. We decided on 7 stations. These were sports, arts and crafts, biscuit decorating, a quiz, Israeli dancing, party games and an outdoor treasure hunt. It was a very busy morning but it was a great success and everyone enjoyed themselves. We look forward to having similar responsibilities next year in Primary 7!

Dragons’ Den

As part of our Victorians topic, we have been looking at many famous inventions and inventors. We became inventors and designed our very own inventions! Mrs Carlton was invited to be a judge on our panel for our Dragons Den styled lesson. During the lesson we presented and promoted our inventions.

We prepared for the lesson through various activities such as the ‘just a minute’ challenge and ‘would you rather.’ We had to consider our audience, the style and form of our presentations as well as answer challenging questions.

Mrs Carlton gave us oral feedback on our presentations about whether she would invest in our inventions or not and each group gave us some written feedback.

It was a fun learning experience!

Football Competition

On Thursday the 16th of March a team of primary 6 and primary 7 pupils participated in the cluster football competition. There were 4 schools including us however, some schools had more than one team.

We won 3, drew 1 and lost 2 and resulted in coming joint first. There were 3 pitches altogether. Sadly we lost the first game but won the next. Everyone enjoyed the competition. We would like to thank Mr Fry for helping us prepare for the competition.
