Dragons’ Den

As part of our Victorians topic, we have been looking at many famous inventions and inventors. We became inventors and designed our very own inventions! Mrs Carlton was invited to be a judge on our panel for our Dragons Den styled lesson. During the lesson we presented and promoted our inventions.

We prepared for the lesson through various activities such as the ‘just a minute’ challenge and ‘would you rather.’ We had to consider our audience, the style and form of our presentations as well as answer challenging questions.

Mrs Carlton gave us oral feedback on our presentations about whether she would invest in our inventions or not and each group gave us some written feedback.

It was a fun learning experience!

Our Victorian Classroom

This week we changed our normal classroom to a Victorian classroom! We began by moving our desks in to rows. We made sure that the boys sat at the left side of the desk and the girls on the right. On the black-board we wrote the alphabet in copperplate and we have a clock face to help us with our times tables. We do dictation at the start or end of every day. We have also made our own Dunces hat which is worn by anyone who loses a dojo point. We have written some Victorian classroom rules on the blackboard such as calling the teacher Mam or Sir (if it’s Mr Robson) and standing when an adult enters the room. We are enjoying having our classroom set up like this.
