This week some of our pupils were off for Eid. Eid was on Monday the 12th of September. It is a religious festival of sacrificing meat! It is called Eid al-Adha.
It comes from the story of when a man travels up a hill to sacrifice his son when is ordered to by G-D, but as he was about to slay his son an angel stopped him and he sacrificed a lamb instead!
Many of the children celebrating spent the day dressed in their best clothes, going to the mosque for prayers, visiting family and friends and eating lots of yummy food. Some got presents and money too! They also gave meat to each other to represent the lamb that was slayed.
And that’s the story of Eid!
Over and out!
