Taster Courses

Engineering Taster Sessions at GCU

Are thinking about studying engineering? Glasgow Caledonian University’s (GCU) Department of Engineering are holding a taster session on Monday the 18th of December from 10.30am – 1pm in the Engineering labs at GCU.  At this session, pupils will get a chance to participate in practical demonstrations in the areas of Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Power and Audio Engineering, they will also get an opportunity to talk to staff and students about study and career opportunities in each of these areas.

University of Strathclyde Summer Programmes

There will be  two summer programmes held at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, for pupils at the end of S4, S5 and thinking about going to University. It aims to provide a targeted focus on the pupils’ chosen area of academic interest, giving them a head start on the road to their chosen career.

In 2016, there are ten areas pupils can choose from, depending on their career aspirations:

S@S Accelerate 1 (Monday 20th  – Friday 24th June 2016)

  • Mini Space Academy (Electronic & Electrical Engineering)
  • Psychology
  • Product Design
  • Sport

S@S Accelerate 2 (Monday 25th – Friday 29th July 2016)

  • Business
  • Chemistry
  • Education
  • Languages
  • Law
  • Physics

The cost of S@S Accelerate is £125 and the programme it is non-residential.
