Today we came up with two articles in groups for the newspaper we are going to create. We came up with names for each article and one group came up with the name for the Newspaper. We thought of the best was to publish it and outline what the newspaper is for and then we shared our ideas. The name of the newspaper is The Kirkhill News.

We took a quiz on logos to test our knowledge, the pupils knew more logos than the p7’s. Now we are going to make our own logo, it could have a book or pencil on it. The possibilities are endless in making a logo, and you should always have the right spelling for your words by giving it a go.
The younger pupils are having a go at brainstorming, thinking and designing their logo. They’re having lots of fun in doing so, the p7’s will help them in words they are unsure on how to spell them. Some of the pupils designed their logo as something else, hourglasses, books or a person.

Today we got to know the people in our group by sharing our favourite things like movies, books and songs. We also look at last year’s targets, considering what we could add to and what we could change. We worked in groups to create new aims and targets for this year.
Our aims for this year look like this. We may want to change them later on:
| Encourage reading for enjoyment across the school | Create a school a newspaper/ magazine (Digital on Seesaw) | Create opportunities to share books and pieces of writing across stages | Making literacy more inclusive |

Today we learned lot about libraries! We also talked about last years reader leaders and their goals, we were talking about our favourite things to get to know each other and we talked about what we should call the group. Some of the suggestions were “The Book Worms”, “Lets Read” and “The Happy Readers”. It’s going to be a tough decision! We finished off with a story.

Today P6C were continuing with making reading corners. They had to search up book corner themes on google and when they found one they liked , search up that specific theme. They then went on to IKEA to get some things to match the theme they had chosen.
They have a £50 budget and can’t go over it, so they had to be
careful about what they bought. They also had to make a poster to draw a rough copy of what their book corner was going to look
like.
